Gregg continued to run until he arrived at a suitable post for sniping. He looked around to find the target he was tracking. He found him, scaling the glass wall of a building twenty feet away from him. Taking off his crossbow, he drew the string and loaded an electric bolt in it, after turning it on. He aimed for the back of his target, knowing full well that the drop will only disable him. Not kill him. Gregg peered through the sight before squeezing the trigger, releasing the polymer cable from the hook and propelling the bolt forward. Only not at the target. Rather three inches from his head. The target, obviously startled by the bolt, turned his head and saw his hidden assailant. Though he was far from him, Gregg could feel the glare that his target hurled at him, burning him through his head.

Then the target ascended quickly, faster than Gregg could ever imagine. He reloaded his crossbow, aimed again, fired, and missed again. Aggravated, he decided not to try again and waste more bolts. Instead, he tore off after the target, stowing his crossbow away as he did. He calculated the rate the target was climbing and the rate that he was running, and concluded that he was able to intercept him soon. After jumping from and landing on three different buildings, he managed to land on the one that his target was climbing. By then, however, the target had already finished his climb and was running to get inside. Gregg had pulled out a knife and thrown at him but the knife only hit the door that the target disappeared behind.

Grunting his disappointment, he pulled the knife out and followed him inside. Gregg leaped the flights of stairs, resting only briefly to recover from the jump, thus reducing the time required to travel down the stairs significantly. Soon, he managed to catch up with the target, who swiftly turned flight to fight. The first punch caught Gregg by surprise, who staggered backwards to recover from the blow. However the succeeding punches were dodged. Gregg lunged forward with his knife, catching the target in the breast, suffering a kick for his boldness. He pulled out another knife with his left hand and faced his target, blood slowly flowing from his chest. He feinted, causing the target to flinch backwards. However, he happened to stand on the edge of the stairs, causing him to fall backwards. Miraculously alive. Gregg leaped over the stairs and landed on top of his recovering target. His knee pressing against his target's wounds, he brought the knife roughly against the victim's throat and hissed, "You've got two choices, here. Come with me silently and you'll be choking in your own disgusting blood."

"It's Joss now," said Joss in reply to Wasp's question. He wandered into the store, straight-backed and casually alert as he wandered through the stored, skimming through the racks. He didn't look nervous, but his heart was racing and his mind was constantly scanning the area around them. He felt the tingle of commotion somewhere in the city and quickly alerted the others. Make it quick, his voice came into the heads of his fellow projects.

He found himself gravitating towards white. Colors seemed strange to him, the emptiness of this lack of color was all he'd ever known. Besides, he found that colors tended to distract him. He selected a white shirt and a pair of faded jeans, then a simple brown jacket to pull over it. No sense in being conspicuous. He wondered if he should bother with the dressing room; after all, he was observant and smart and generally knew what size he was, but maybe for the sake of looking normal...

He held the clothes in the crook of his arm and stuck close to the others, waiting for them to finish up.

Wasp grinned widely as she paraded out of the dressing room in the long red coat, black turtle neck and flared jeans. It all fit very nice and she twirled happily - she decided that shopping was a very good thing. The tall woman looked relatively normal, just a bit eccentric as her dark purple hair with the dramatic straight bangs made the look a bit edgier.

"I love it. Can I wear it out?" She asked Jenny who nodded and said all she needed to do was ring everything up and clip the tags.

"Joss! Look!" She exclaimed in child like excitement, not unlike a little girl showing her mother something she just made.

Joss gave her a grin. "It looks good," he complimented. It was nice to see her so happy, he could feel the joy radiating off of her. He looked down at the clothes in his hands and went back into the dressing room to change.

It was a whole new Joss when he came out. He didn't look crazy, at least not in the sense that's he'd just escaped from some sort of mental ward. His eyes still had that unsettling gleam. The clothes fit him well, complimenting his lightly muscled figure that'd been achieved through years of being put through his paces. Not to mention that, with his model-like looks, he was quite a head-turner. It seemed to suit his abilities. Joss was hypnotic and enticing, a snake in human form.

He stared at himself curiously in the mirror, running a hand through his shaggy hair with a shrug. "Are we almost done?" he asked, glancing over at his companions. He was beginning to get a bit anxious.

A black van spun around the corner and slowly and carefully made it's way down the alleyway towards Kae. The headlights of the van, glaring at her as she raised her hand slightly to cover her eyes from there brightness. The van rolled to a slow halt and the headlights turned off, leaving only the streetlights and neon signs to light the alley. Doors swished open suddenly and men in white radiation suits poured out from the gap behind them a man followed them out.

Dressed head to toe in a fitted black pinstripe suit, a pair of sunglasses perched on the bridge of his nose.
"Where is it?" his voice almost as emotionless as Kae's

"Over there" Kae replied, pointing over at the hulking frame of the dead fugitive. She paused for a second, looking over at the body that was once a regular human man. "What caused that to happen?" Kae was always upfront and to the point.

"Nothing you need to concern yourself over. Just do your job and I'll do mine" the cold voice snapped back. Kae nodded back, despit the urge to snap his neck like a twig. "You'll be needing new transport I see" the man stated, acknowledging Kae's bike wreck.

"No." she retorted sharply, "I'll go on foot. The bike was a means to an end." she turned on her boot heels and made her way out the alleyway and back onto the city streets. Towards her next target.

Gregg tried to contain the hissing and kicking target as his knife edged its way closer to his neck. But then, in a burst of strength that Gregg did not expect at all, the target pushed Gregg off, swiftly followed by a kick in the stomach, knocking the wind from him. He involuntarily dropped his knives as he began to recover, allowing his target to escape. Groaning audibly, he clutched his torso. When he finally recovered, he noticed that his target had long descended down the stairs. Determined to catch him, he leaped down the stairs. The sounds of running feet failed to elude him as Gregg drew closer to the target. When he caught up to him, he took his head and slammed it against the wall. As the target's head exploded from the impact, Gregg activated one of his electric bolts and shoved it into him, sending him into unconsciousness. He then took out a small electronic device, turned it on, and placed it on the body, saying into his communicator, "Clean up, please."

(Sorry, It's been busy about here. ^_^)

Wasp did another turn, her energy still unbounded. "I know!" She exclaimed turning to Joss, the girl was obviously unaware as to how to properly take a compliment, and she preened under the attention.

Her dark eyes shone ecstatically as she surveyed her friends - equally pleased with their dress as she had been with her.

She grabbed Joss' sleeve and attempted to whisper - it almost failed as her voice came out as more of a stage whisper than anything else.

"Look at us! We look like actual people!" She said excitedly, but she soon sobered as another thought flitted through her mind. "Where do we go after this?"

((Sorry Sojourner... I've been super busy and I haven't had the time to post much. >.>))

Bearing a relatively dark colored parcel of clothes under her arm, Kanai stepped into the dressing room. I can only hope I'm doing this right, she thought to herself. She tried to hurry, but her fingers slipped on the strange mechanisms that were used to hold the clothes on. Nevertheless, she was quite pleased with the final effect, and her face even broke out into a smile. Not half bad, she said to herself as she opened the door and stepped out, catching sight of the other two fugitives.

"Well?" she asked the pair, making a dramatic whirl. "What do you think?" She wore burgundy pinstripe pants with a burgundy blouse, and the blouse was ruffled down the front. The overall effect was quite businesslike, and suited her personality well.

"What happens next?" She shrugged her shoulders and looked from one to the other. "Where do we go, what do we do?" She smiled brightly, her eyes lightening to an amber brown color.

(( It's fine. I'll be leaving for a month today anyway. . . ))

Joss shared a grin between Wasp and Kanai. "We do look right," he declared quietly, quite pleased with the results. "Um, I guess we aught to find somewhere to stay... I don't trust the streets..."

"I can ring you up over here," said the sales attendant, beckoning them over to the cash register. She scanned the tags on their clothes and punched in a few buttons. "That'll be five hundred seventy nine. Do you need a receipt?"

Joss rose a brow at the number. "Five hundred seventy nine? But we just want three." He pointed to himself and his two companions. He didn't understand what she was talking about.

The woman looked unamused. "Sir, I - " She faltered a little. He was looking her in the eyes, piercing her. She felt an odd feeling wash over her. He... he just wanted to take them. Why shouldn't she let him? "Go on," she said in a flat, dead tone, staring at him like a deer in the headlights.

Joss waved to her and grinned. "Thank you very much," he farewelled.

((W00t, w00t! :-D))

Kanai was infinitely pleased with her new look. It had been a long time since she was this delighted with something... besides escaping, that is. Speaking of escaping... Kanai's smiled darkened a little, and she fidgeted. She watched Joss as he spoke with the salesperson, edging toward the door. That salesperson was sure acting strange... Then something caught her attention. What were those... strange curvy things hanging from that rack? She went over to them and started surveying them closely. Hmm... there was a picture near them; she studied it well. It seemed that these strange, colorful things... went on your head? She picked one out and tried it on. Well, it fit on her head just fine... She shrugged. That must mean that that's where it goes! She took it off and pulled off the tag, which wasn't very comfortable on her head. She replaced the headband and then admired her reflection in the nearest mirror. Now she was ready to go. She hurried over to the door.

Joss escorted his companions out onto the streets, looking around anxiously. The atmosphere had changed considerably, he could feel it in the very core of his body. There was a new and terrible violence in the air.

"We have to get off the streets," he told his fellow projects, his bright eyes glancing around them. "Find somewhere to stay. It's too dangerous out here where... they can find us."

It had been a good 25 minutes since Kae had her first encounter with one the fugitives. Something was different about him, something the good Doctor Statler had held back from the Operatives. The mutations were sudden, painful and grotesque. Despite what she had witnessed, Kae was unphased and unsympathetic to the man's plight. He could have been given help back at Janus, he left of his own free will thus putting the normals in grave danger.

Amidst her thoughts of this meeting, she was awaiting new instructions on any new targets. No word from HQ, no located sightings. Kae tapped on her earpiece.
"Fixer to HQ, any word on new sightings"

Kae waited for a reply as she continued to walk the streets, ignoring the occasional strange look and whispers thrown her way. Five minutes passed since her enquiry then the voice of Stephanie Jones spoke up via the earpiece.

"We have a man down. I repeat man down. You're closest to the scene."

Kae frowned slightly, her fears were right.
"Stupid girl" she muttered under her breath. "Where is she?" Kae asked calmly.

"The old Central Park."Stephanie replied, anxiety very apparent in her voice.

Kae listened to the exact coordinates and made her way towards her quarry and her fallen team mate.
