Ev smiled again, then said, "Well, you're going to have to endure it for a couple of more days until you heal completely. You may not feel it, but that fall did a nasty job on you leg an ribs...as you noticed yesterday." She blew her strand of hair out of her face again, then growled in frustration and said, "That's it," before taking her hair down and starting to put it up again. She looked at him, laughing at the expression on his face, then said, "I'm tired of it! It's annoying!"

Ev closed her book and said, "That's good," before crossing her arms and putting her elbows on her knees, so that she was about level with him. "You okay?" she asked, narrowing her eyes after a moment. "You seem a little quiet."
