Meneldor took one glance back at the others, then calmly let the sea elves escort him away.

Edwn just smirked as the sght as Meneldor was being escorted away and followed Ghyreian.

Ghyreian activated the air bubble as soon as they stepped out of the city. She nudged her bubble upwards, towards the surface of the lake.

The two burly sea elven guards herded Meneldor into the small side chamber. The old judge followed after. "You are not pure of heart," the judge said somberly. "Thus, you must receive your punishment."

Edwin followed Ghyreian in his own air bubble and then exited the city after her, he had a smirking face as he looked back at the city once more for some reason. He cleared his face and had a normal face as he turned back.

They soon breached the surface of the lake. Thankful to be on solid ground again, Ghyreian took one look at the enclosing ice cavern around them. They were still faced with one predicament: how they were to exit this cavern with no visible means of egress whatsoever.

Their problem seemed solved a moment later when she saw a familiar brown-robed figure waiting for them.

"What do you want?" she asked wearily.

"The Compass of Feal-thas, of course," it rasped back with a thin laugh.

Edwin hmped at this and stepped forth.

"You may want it, but getting it might be a different thing"

He said in defiance as he had enough of this all.

At Edwin's defiant response, it laughed. "I have no intention of taking the Compass from you. In fact, you have my thanks for conquering the trials and optaining it from the sea elves in the first place. The Compass will be mine, of course, but after you obliterate for me another enemy."

"And what enemy will that be?" Ghyreian retorted, struggling not to let her exhaustion show.

It laughed again. "Why, the remnants of the Highlord Feal-thas's army, who so conveniently guard the dragonlances. So after you run off with what you came for, I shall procure from you what I came for."

"And how many are there these remnants?"

Edwin asked raising an eyebrow with a suspecting face.

"That," it replied impassively, "is not my concern." It pointed to a section of the cavern wall. The wall distorted, forming an arched doorway that led, as far as Ghyreian could tell, back into the freezing tundra.

Clutching the brown sack that held the Compass of Feal-thas and pulling her fur cloak around her, she started for the door.

Edwin sighed and followed Ghyreian silently.

"How do you suppose we defeat these remnants?"

They stepped into a howling blizzard at the bottom of a steep and rocky ravine. Ghyreian ducked her head and shouted, "I don't know! But we'll have to find shelter soon or we won't make it through."

She spotted an overhang of ice. Examining closer, she saw that it shielded a small but operable aperture carved into the ravine. She crawled in and received a respite from the snow storm for her pains.

Edwin followed Ghyreian silently hoping they would make trough the blizzard, as they procceeded Edwin had hoped that it would perhaps get easier to go on yet he was wrong. Well it had been a fools hope so it hadn`t been worth much.

Sitting in the small alcove and shielded from the blizzard by the overhang above, Ghyreian scooted over to make space for Edwin. She glanced at him, then opened the small brown pouch.

Out fell, out of all things, a plain compass. With one exception: The arrow wasn't pointing north.

Edwin`s eyes narrowed as he reached his hand out from his robe sleeves.

"Well I guess this is what we have to rely on..."

He muttered and picked up the compass examining it.
