Erimak's brows frowned as he said, "You asked for my intentions. I gave them to you. No doubt you will dislike my methods but truly you can only fight fire with fire. It is one of the fundamental principle in the world. That an action has an equal and opposing reaction. I know what I did and its effects. Otherwise I wouldn't have done it in the first place. You wouldn't understand what the Evil One has done to me. By creating enough chaos within his reign, I can make the government topple and people revolt."

"Whilst you sit high and pretty on your throne, commanding it all." Kith said, finishing the man's sentance "I myself have not had the best of life, but I do not hurt innocent people trying to get revenge." Again his instincts told him to shift to predator, but he knew better. " I oppose the Evil one just as much as you do."

"If you anything of my past, you'd be surprised on how much blood has been on my hands...some of it my own." She looked over at the leader as the gaurd groaned behind her. "Do not be so quick to judge my actions, especially since you know not of my reasons."

Just became a college freshman; be on sparingly

After running for awhile, the guards were still keeping up with Braad and Meleth. "Well, I don't think we're going to outrun them anytime soon." Braad said, slightly out of breath. "We could duck off to the side and wait to ambush them, but I'm sure more will be following." He dodged a large branch hanging down in his path. "My lady, I think out best choice is to split up and do our best to evade them. We could meet somewhere on the other side of the forest if you would wish that."

Meleth bit her lip, with a glance over her shoulder. "I would hesitate to take that course of action," she countered. "It's never worked anytime I've tried it - here!" And with that, she took hold of the branch Braad had pushed away and swung nimbly up into the ancient tree it grew out of. "They won't be looking above, I can nearly guarantee."

"Brilliant, milady!" Braad said. He went to a nearby tree and quickly climbed it, pulling his long legs up past the bottom branches.

"Thank you, I rather thought so myself," was her not overly modest reply. "Shh, now - here they come!"

And here they did come indeed - quite a large group, led by a huge red-faced lieutenant who looked positively murderous.

Braad kept still in his tree, trying not to think about what would happen if one of the soldiers happened to look up.

Meleth kept quite still, the tree obscuring most of her form, trying to breathe very quietly.

The lieutenant came to a halt, something that boded not well for either of them, bloodshot eyes glaring around. Suddenly one of his men bent down with a shout and came up with a silver-fletched arrow. An intense discussion ensued, with all of them glancing warily around.

Meleth tried very hard to make no sound, berating herself fiercely and wondering how it had fallen out of her quiver. She looked over at Braad and silently touched the hilt of one of her knives, indicating that they were to put up a fight if discovered - the advantage was theirs, being out of the reach off all the soldiers except those possessing bows and long spears.

Braad caught Meleth's signal and quietly put a hand to one of his own knives. He waited to draw it unless he had to.

After some debate, the group of soldiers apparently decided that the arrow was dropped by one of the escaped prisoners, who was ahead of them in the forest. They started back on their way at a jog, but as the last of them were leaving the trees Braad and Meleth were hidden in, one happened to look up and saw the pair. He gave a shout, which was quickly cut off by one of Braad's knives thrown into his throat. Braad jumped down to retrieve his weapon. By then the soldiers had turned around and were rushing at the two. Braad grimaced and drew his other knife.

Meleth leapt down from her tree, knives already scything murderously through the air. Dismayed, she caught sight of another troop of soldiers, running towards them.

"Braad!" she cried, dispatching a soldier with a lightning flick of her wrist. "We've no hope of beating them - retreat!" This, however, was easier said than done. Suddenly the red-faced lieutenant confronted her and she found herself locked in combat, hope of escape diminishing.

Elendi rubbed her hands together, for they had not healed all the way from the time in prison. She worried for the lad...even though she barely knew him, she felt like she knew him and needed to help him. And that is what she planned to do.
