Daniel jumped out of the back of the wagon and stretched his stiff limbs. "Want me to get food?" he asked, eager to be helpful.

Abby smiled. " ok daniel. but don't go too far now." she said half giggling. Abby went to help little Sarah out of the wagon. Sarah head straight for the small stream in the shade, she bent and cuped her hand and scooped up some water and drank it.

"I won't." Daniel climbed back into the wagon and started rumaging around. <i>Eat quickly on the trail</i> That's what his father had told him. Daniel grabbed a loaf of bread-it would be going bad if they waited too long to eat it- some cheese, and ham. He stuffed it into a small bag and jumped back out of the wagon. "Here!" he held up the sack proudly.

Daniel ran over to Abby. "Here's some food." he said, holding the sack out for her.

Abby shurged at her unanswered question and then thanked daniel for the sack. Abby began to start a fire. she was going to cook a stew like momma had taught her. wile Abby started the fire she saw other wagon tracks that only had to be about a day old. she looked behind her and saw more. <i> maybe there from another wagon trail</i> she thought to herself.
