Sila took the gloves and pulled them on. She certainly didn't want anyone seeing the strange marking on her hand, not when they had so little information about it. She also took her cloak and pulled the hood over her head. She followed Suakii out to the stable. As she mounted her horse, she turned to her sister. "Can you control it?" she asked, "I made it happen in the house, but back at the creek I didn't do anything. It wouldn't be too good if I create another earthquake by accident or if you set something on fire."

Suakii stopped mounting her black horse as her brow furrowed in thought.
"Well, not that wouldn't be good... I think it has to do with how relaxed you are, the more relaxed you are, and the more peace of mind you have, the easier it is to use the.. powers. But I'm not entirely sure."

Sila bit her lip as she thought on her sister's words.
"Yes," she said after a moment, "That makes sense. I was certainly relaxed when I was up by the creek, and it first happened." She shrug and gave her horse a gentle kick in the side, urging it to go. "We'll find more at the study hall."

Suakii, nodding her silent agreement, spurred her horse on, and cantered away, headed toward the public study hall.

(ok... my character is going to be at this public study hall. i think my bio said a different place, but so what... i need interactions )
Latanya slipped out of her house and walked to the study hall. It seemed quiet there, so she found a little corner to sit in... and do nothing.

"Aivon, bring her back, man. She must know that she cannot disobey me," Rhaeryn's mother snapped at the bodyguard.
"Yes, milady," he replied softly, cringing inwardly as he slipped after his young ward. It never was nice to have to bring Rhaeryn back to be disciplined--some times he had even had to bring her back over his shoulder, which resulted in stony silence from her towards him for the next day or so. That was not an enjoyable thing, considering how much time he spent around her.

The study hall towered in the center of the village square, surrounded by the bustling marketplace. Sitting by the window and feigning the facade of being absorbed in one of the many ancient tomes, Mordev swept his gaze over the expansive chamber.
Of course, his facade would have been all the more effective had he not been holding his book upside-down.
His silver eyes settled on a girl with light brown hair sitting in a corner and apparently doing nothing. Those same silver eyes narrowed, and he shifted in his seat to achieve a better vantage point. One found. Five more to go. And now for the difficult part - convincing this one to come with him.
It had been a sevenday since he'd set out from King Sielio's capital, charged with the simple task of stopping Grenik. But he, unlike his unwitting half-brother, understood fully the events behind their common father's murder. And he also knew perhaps the only method to effectively stop Grenik's rise to power. These six Kiani... those they called Power Bearing... whose secret their father had died to protect...
Their powers were linked, and they would be all the more destructive once combined.

Sila dismounted when they reached the study hall. She pulled her hood back off her face but left on the gloves. When she and Suakii walked inside there was already another girl there. "We'll have to be careful about how much we say," Sila whispered to her sister. She didn't want the wrong ears to hear what was going on. Then she turned and looked at the rows and rows of books. "Now where to begin?" She began looking at some of the books, but then her eyes fell on a man who was also sitting in the study hall. She saw that he had been looking at her and her sister for an instant before he turned his eyes away. He stood and walked closer to them, looking at the books. Sila shuffled a few feet away, urging Suakii to follow.

[think we posted at the same time... you may have missed my above post]
Mordev's searching gaze snapped up at the entrance of two more strangers. Hardly daring to believe his fortune, he consulted a small sheet of vellum tucked in his vest pocket. They matched the description exactly.
Three found. This would prove difficult.
Easing his chair back, he casually stood and walked over to a shelf near the entrance, where he could overhear their conversation. He pretended to be perusing the rows of books.

Oooh....getting interesting. *waits for Meldawen to post* Lol...playing the bodyguard who follows along behind Rhaeryn and dealing with any repercussions is somewhat affecting my roleplay...it's got me waiting to cope with the story as Meldawen bends it for her character.

((Lol, I'm currently trying to figure out what would be a convenient way for Rhaeryn to get discovered...))
Rhaeryn slipped down the steps from the door and into the garden - and heard Aivon's footsteps. Her expression darkened. Just the book - just the one book, that's all, she thought stubbornly, and rescued it from under its bush. Stars above - I'm not going back to listen to another lecture! No books, Rhaeryn, you're too stubborn, Rhaeryn...I don't think so.
Darting toward the little garden gate, a sturdy wicker affair, Rhaeryn tucked the book under her arm and stepped through it, not bothering to close it after her. The cobblestone road outside, down which a few carriages and wagons still drove, beckoned and with another backward glance the girl trotted off down it, only intending to find a quiet place to read. Aivon would find her sooner or later - and maybe she'd cooperate then. Maybe.
((EDIT: *Thought occurs* Hey, quiet place to read = study hall! ))

Aivon stepped out into the garden and sighed in exasperation as he saw Rhaeryn disappear beyond the far gate. Putting a little more haste in his movement, he headed after her, loosening his sword in its scabbard. It was about the sleepiest, calmest area he could imagine, with hardly a robbery to make things interesting, but one could never tell when the peace was false or not. He rounded the gate, heading after Rhaeryn. He couldn't see her, so he followed her footsteps, clearly visible to him, though he didn't really know how good of a tracker he was compared to others, and didn't care. Finding and protecting the girl was all that mattered right now.

Rhaeryn glanced into windows as she speedily made her way down the street, and turned a corner to be confronted with a large building that looked promising. Checking over her shoulder, she darted inside and her eyes brightened at the shelves of books - but only this one for today. Not really wanting to be found, Rhae located a slightly overstuffed chair at the back of some of the myriad shelves and tucked her feet under her. Maybe she had time to finish just the one story before Aivon arrived, as he probably would in short order.
Curling like a cat with the tome, the girl sunk down into the chair as if making herself smaller and more difficult to find - and had anyone been watching, they might have observed her form flicker slightly. As though perhaps she was trying so hard to make herself unseen...that it was happening.
