Marianne watched the game from where she sat on the barrel. She was fast running out of tobacco. Whenever that happened, there was sure to be a catastrophe. She would lose her temper with someone and then matters would get slightly... ugly. She remembered vaguely a man lying on the floor of Black's Tavern, his nose hideously dented, a pool of blood unattractively spilling from his nostrils. She could no longer recall who he was or why he had happened to be her target of anger.
Exhaling a last spiral of smoke, she sighed.

[ I need Shadowcat to answer my post. *reposts* ]
Salma shrugged. "Does it matter?" she asked the man. But realising that no one on the ship would accept that for an answer, she spilled her story.
"I am here because I had to leave that stinkin' town" she stated simply. "Getting here was not as hard as it seems. It was late and it was dark. And most of the guards were women." A smirk appeared on her bruised face. "They cared too muc for the rum that was shared to notice me. And even if they would have caught me, I wouldn't mind."
Salma words sounded emotionless and cold. The past was the past. She'd learnt not to care about it and forget it quickly as it was not worth remembering.
"Well now you know the grand story" Salma said rolling her eyes. Taking a better look at the man she found that he was quite handsome, dairk-haired, brown eyes. But his look was somewhat cold.
"I would need some water to wash my face. Please?"
-----
Nathan shrugged at Alasdair's story. He knew nothing about politics and he certainly knew little about life in his home country where he had not been, if he didn't miscount, for over ten years. All Nathan knew was that politicians were liars and in order not to get trapped in their maze you had to avoid them.

(( Blah, sorry, I've been too mentally messed up after watching Torchwood to write or post or... anything. I'll try and put something together as soon as I can.
EDIT: Here we go. Again, sorry. ))
Richmond glanced at Salma with a raised eyebrow. “It’s not like the cities out here, love. Yer’s got to be careful with fresh water. It’s not unheard of for a crew to die of thirst on the open seas.”
He’d seen it happen, on pirate ships and merchant ships alike. There were always those that forgot salt water wasn’t fit for consumption.
That being said, Richmond led her to their water stores and folded his arms, watching.

[ *waits with Nathan's post for Tur* ]
"I'm well are of that, love" Salma retorted. "Why don't you give me seawater then?" A serene smile appeared on her negligent face. "It will burn the cuts clean I'm sure. But I would hate to be the cause of your shortage of drinking water."
She turned and started to make her way back to the upper deck but stopped to glance back at Richmond. "Are you waitin' for something laddie?"

Faced with silence from his new companions, Alasdair shrugged, and headed for the magazine. Lowering himself down into a hatch on the deck, he descendedc a flight of stairs, and clicked his tongue appreciatively. Powder barrels, Boarding Pikes, spare Cutlasses, and other weapons bedecked te walls, while shots were piled on monkeys in the corners of the large room. It seemed Captain Barbossa had not been lacking a gut instinct of combat. With that thought, he began to count the boarding pikes, marking the numbers down with his charcoal stick.

Richmond didn't answer as he followed Salma, wondering if anyone would care if he did give her seawater. He certainly wouldn't. A good riddiance, he should think. There were enough women on the ship as it was, and while the others had managed to prove their worth, so far Salma hadn't shown that she'd be anything but an annoyance. Time would tell, perhaps, but Richmond had his doubts.
He briefly considering asking her to share more about who she was and why she was here, but realised that he'd most likely only get a vague answer anyway. Didn't matter, he supposed. They were on a ship, in open waters; there'd be time.
((Sorry, that's a bit late. Life's been rather hectic.))

(okay, sorry it took so long. I was hoping for Aramel to post, but I'm a bit impatient and don't want this to die off.)
Gibbs hated being interrupted in the middle of a conversation, although a pirate he was still fond of a few higher class rules like staying in your own business. Although, it did help that the woman who had wandered into their group was a woman else he'd be more inclined to give her a good piece of what he thought, as it were, he was not inclined to do so.
She was crying, or at least pretending to. And it was rather obnoxious. He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his broad chest before given her another once over. She looked like most other women from Tortuga - luckless, and dirty in more ways than one.
"Aye we be in the business of sailin' but whether you can come with us is a matter best left to the Captain," he said giving a nod towards Jack, although it seemed that the woman was already making eyes at him. He shook his head, that would probably cement her passage.
He watched with a bit of a chuckle as the woman approached Christine who looked a bit horrified by the closeness and abrupt nature of the girl standing before her.
------------------------------
Christine blinked rapidly at the sudden appearance of a woman before her speaking as if they shared some secret or another that any woman or man on the god forsaken island could have heard anyway. The red head was not generally a good judge of character and small displays easily fooled her, but even she could tell that the woman was trying to hard.
She stepped back a few paces and tugged at her wide brimmed hat hoping the shadow would hide the marks. Then she took stock of the woman who claimed the same trouble and immediately knew better. Harlots could tell harlots and this girl was not of that lot.
She was a bit too clean by the standards of Tortuga's painted women. Her hair was not done up nor was there any signs of weariness about her features. Any woman awake now would be worn thin if they had worked the night before.
Christine shook her head and frowned a bit, not quite trusting Elly. "I think you're mistaken, Miss," she said finally - in hopes of being diplomatic.
