Mort felt the hot fluid run down his throat. He immediately started coughing it back up, as his throat rejected it.
He wanted it to stop. But he knew, it was only the beginning.

Shannon leaned back against the back of the chair comfortably and then laughed a bit. "Wow..." She said softly to Dan and sighed deeply. "That was crazy." She looked over to him and smiled widely.

Dan did not answer to that statement.....he had been in that insane building for far too long to even joke about it. He never wanted to go back there again.
"I'm sorry about your friend," he said in a shushed whisper. He did not want the driver to become suspicious of their conversation. "Just know, that he may turn out worse than he already was. That's how it usually is with people in there."

The deputy examined Mort's mouth and cleaned off the bloody pliers with a white towel. "Hmmmm.....maybe just one more..... What do you think boys?" he asked the officers with a cocky grin.
The officers just laughed and held Mort down even harder....they knew he may fight even more now.

Shannon sighed deeply and stared straight ahead. "I wouldn't be surprised." She said softly and folded her arms across her chest. She knew that the Deputy would make Mort's a nightmare.

Dan looked toward Shannon with a tired expression. "At least we're out of there."
Breathing in deeply, his eyes began to blink and shut slowly. Tilting his head toward the window, he rested it on the seat and fell asleep.
(Do ya want to skip a scene between Dan and Shannon? Do ya want them to arrive in Tashmore?)

Mort cursed at David but that just made his throat swallow more blood, which led him into more hacking coughs.
He pushed his chest upwards and tightened his arms, trying to find anyway, if possible, to set himself free.

Shannon looked out the window and noticed that they were finally at Tashmore. She sighed deeply and softly nudged Dan in the arm. "Dan... we're here." She said to him.

Dan jumped at Shannon's nudge with his hands shielding his face. It looked almost like Dan had been abused for so long that it was a normal reaction.
Lowering his arms, he blinked quickly and looked out his window. "Wow.....I haven't seen a town...since....." His eyes stared in awe at the beauty of it.

Meanwhile back at the asylum facility, Mort continued to be tortured.
"HOLD HIM!" shouted the deputy. "I want to get that top molar....right there," he said with a tap of the pliers on the tooth.
The officer straddling Mort's chest pushed him down with all his might. "Ok go ahead," the officer said with a grunt.
The cold pliers were headed, once again, for one of Mort's teeth. Gripping down hard on a large top molar, the deputy decided just to slowly pull this time.

Mort's face twisted in agony. His eyes searched the ceiling in a helpless mannor.
He heard a pop, then a snap, and immediately started to feel the gum grow wobbly.
No, not again..not again...

Shannon smiled to Dan and then slowly opened the door. She got out and stretched her arms as she looked around the town. She sighed happily and then looked back to Dan, who was still in the car. "It's gorgeous, huh?" She asked him, softly.

Dan opened his door and stepped out with wide eyes, "Yes, it is beautiful. It reminds me of my home back in Virgina....I used to live near a lake."
Shutting the car door softly behind him, he continued to stare at the small quaint town.
"HEY BUDDY!" shouted the cab driver from inside the car. "That's ten bucks!" he said as he stuck his hand out of the window.

The deputy pulled harder, but slowly so that the process would be slow and painful. Laughing a little, he said, "Almost out, Mr. Rainey. Are we having fun yet?"
The officers laughed as well, but keep full pressure on Mort's helpless frame.
Finally the tooth popped out and the deputy waved the small bloody white shape in front of his face. "Not so bad, huh?"

Mort winced as the tooth slid out of it's socket and the taste of blood entered his mouth even more than it already was.
He groaned and stared at the Deputy, with fear in his eyes knowing more was yet to come. "Please..no more!" he started to say.

Dan's eyes twitched with uncertainty. He mouthed to Shannon, "I don't either!"
The cab driver became more frustrated and leaned out of the window, "HEY BUDDY! Any day now!"

"Oh.....no more? Are you sure?" the deputy said with sad eyes.
The officers looked to the deputy awaiting there next order.
David looked to them and said, "All right, let him go."
The officers looked to eachother and slowly released Mort from their grip.

Dan looked like a small frightened boy, even though he was a mature full grown man. He began to shift his weight in an uncomfortable mannor and stratch his head nervously.
He whispered to Shannon, "Is there anyway that we could ask him to bill your friend Mort?"
