Dan did not ask questions, but he could tell that this issue was bothering Shannon. Instead, he just continued to follow after her.

Finally after about two torturous mintues, David yanked Mort out of the water. Pulling on his hair and throwing him onto the hard white tiled floor, David smiled. As Mort's back hit the floor, he placed his large black boot over his chest and held him down, "Ready to apologize, Mr. Rainey?"

Shannon sighed deeply and continued walking. After a few minutes, they arrived to Mort's house. She smiled a little and then wrapped her arms around herself, seeming somewhat insecure as she made it back to the house. It was dark and eerie now.

"Is this it?" Dan asked with his eyes scanning it like a radar system. "Looks cozy," he said as he began to walk near the front porch. "And no one else lives here right?" he asked as he turned back to Shannon.

Water came spurting out of Mort's nose and mouth. His wet hair was flat against his face and he gasped in a huge amount of cold air, even though David's boot was upon his chest.
"Yes! Yes!" he coughed then tried to continue, "Whatever yes! I'm sorry! Just-Just please stop!"

"Ah, why thank you, Mr. Rainey! But unfortunately I think it's a little late for an apology," David said as he leaned down into Mort's face.
Lifting Mort from the ground, the officers pushed his limp form up against a wall and strapped his hands overhead and feet against the wall, sprawling him out like a helpless animal.
On the other side of the room, David seemed be preparing another torturous idea.

Mort squirmed and looked towards where David stood, "No, wait..please, I'm sorry! Please! No more!"

Shannon shook her head. "No one else lives here. Just Mort." She said softly and then opened the door to the house. She walked inside and looked around the mess of a house he lived in. She sighed deeply and then rested her hands on her hips, as if in thought.

Dan followed slowly and curiously. He hands dangled loosely at his sides as his hazel eyes scanned the messy house. "Whoa....he's not very organized is he?" he said with slight laugh.
Noticing the kitchen off to the right, he immediately dashed toward the refrigerator, "Anything to eat?"

David motioned for two officers to come and take two cigarette lighters from his hand. David of course kept one for himself....the largest one.
Walking back to Mort's helpless body, who's back was turned toward them, the three remaining officers ripped his shirt off and slid it down to Mort's waist.
"Have you ever felt fire before, Mr. Rainey?" asked the deputy as he flicked the lighter on and off.

Mort's eyes scintilated panic and his body tried to twist out of the straps, "No..no you're doing the wrong thing! Leave us alone!"

"Us?" asked the deputy with a lifted brow, "To whom else are you referring, Mr. Rainey? There is no one else here...so apparently you are insane." He chuckled a little and stood right next to Mort's face, "That's why you're in here. Anyone can see you're a crazy man."
Lighting the lighter, he stared at Mort with evil pleasure.

You never listened, but now you know.
You wanted to kill them. So you did..
"I didn't kill anybody!" Mort suddenly shouted to the voice that was eating his mind up inside his head.

The deputy stared into Mort's face with a confused daze. "What? You didn't kill someone? What? Is there something you want to tell me, Mr. Rainey?" he said with a grin beginning to creep over his face.
With a quick flick of the lighter, he allowed the flame to lick Mort's chest for about two seconds.

Mort couldn't decide what was more painful, the fire starting to sting his chest, or that voice inside his mind...
He didn't reply to the Deputy.

"Oh, so that's how you want to be, huh?" said David with a raised eyebrow.
Angrily, he nodded to the two officers beside him. All of them flicked on the lighters and laid them directly onto Mort's skin. The deputy had his on Mort's chest, and the other two officers had their under each arm of Mort.

Mort pushed his head back into the wall. "Ah! Ah...ah..." he said gasping in pain as he felt the fire numb his skin with their flames.

Soon enough the deputy had all of the lighters burning Mort's chest all at one time. "Does this feel good, Mr. Rainey?" he asked casually.
