Lee thanked her and breathed heavily. "It is twisted...and it may be an number of mintues until the swelling lessens, for the blood will take awhile to continue it's normal flow." Cara smiled a bit. "I'm glad you know about it." she said, "cause I have no idea." She suddenly realized she didn't know anything about the girl. "How'd you end up out here?" she asked.

Lee sighed, hating to lie to another person. "I was..um..just taking an walk and um...." Sweat started trickling down her forehead as she looked down at the ground.

"Funny place for a walk." Cara said. She noticed the sweat on the girl's face and changed the subject quickly. "What's your name? I'm- uh- Kelly." She didn't know why she lied about her name, just that she had some vague idea it would somehow keep her safe from the Dark Coats.

Adam came back to the girls and sat near Cara. "Feeling better", he asked the girl. Then he looked at the strage girl, not knowing if he could trust her and pushed Cara slightly, giving her some sighs "I think THEY're following us. They'll find us. We have to leave this place, we're not save here", he whispered.

Cara nodded to Adam's whispers, trying to think of some way to get out of the situation without making it too obvious to the girl.

Lee heard them, unfortunatly. "My name is Lee and I am a third born. I was running from the Coats. You may turn me in now if you like, but that's better than hiding like an mouse."

Cara bristled. "I'm not hiding, I'm running because the Dark Coats broke into my house, and-" She caught her breath and calmed down. "I'm a Third too, but I'm sure you figured that out. I've been living in a basement for most of my life, and that's made me careful." She realized she was talking aimlessly. "My name's actually Cara, I wasn't sure if I could trust you. I'm not going to turn you in."

Adam sat beside the two girls. "I'm Adam", he said. "I've lived in this attic since I can remember", he said, pointing to the house which could be seen behind the trees. "We should hurry now. I feel they're coming. Are you feeling better, Lee? Do you think you can run already?"

"Far away as possible." She said. "Come on, boy!" She called to the dog which was sniffing the snake.
