Aivon didn't bother trying to suppress the groan that rose within him when he saw Rhaeryn's tracks enter the building. Once inside, it was beyond his skill to even distinguish her footprints from the many others dotting the carpeted floor. With a sigh, he began looking through each room, all the while hoping that she wouldn't slip out of the building while he wasn't watching the door.

The second room he entered was brightly lit, but seemed empty. Several of the big, overstuffed armchairs were facing away from the door, though. He made his way to the back of the room, glancing at each chair as soon as he could see the front of it. Nothing. He had just turned to move on to the next room when he caught sight of something out of the corner of his eye. He turned, and there was Rhaeryn, sitting in one of the chairs he had just seen empty, and watching him. His mouth fell open. "Girl, how did you..." He closed his eyes, his face contorting into a pained expression. He could just imagine trying to keep an eye on her if she kept dissappearing like...this!

Seeing Rhaeryn's puzzled expression, he stared. "You don't realize what you did, do you?" He ran a hand through his hair, wishing for something strong to drink. "Lass, you were invisible! I couldn't see you, and I know I'm not that blind."

"Don't be silly, of course I wasn't," said Rhaeryn rather dismissively. "That's impossible. Maybe you just missed me." Hesitating a moment, though, she shut the book and her expression became that of someone trying very hard to recall some small detail that they couldn't quite remember. Very suddenly she flickered in and out of sight again, and this time when she returned her eyes to Aivon they were wide with surprise, and perhaps a little frightened. "Ohhhh..." she breathed, and stood up. "That's never happened before!"

Another one found... This must be Mordev's lucky day. He slipped behind a towering shelf, out of the irritating bodyguard's field of vision. His fingers danced along the hilts of his twin kukris as he contemplated his options. He shot a glance at the other Kiani, scattered all over the study hall. First he had to let them drift together.

Suakii was reading through some books, and heard Rhaeryn speaking through the wall. Whithout bothering to tell Sila, Suakii went around the wall slowly, pretending to be browsing for a book near the doorway, so that she could partly hear their conversation.

"...You're invisible! And I know that..." "Don't be silly..." "...Thats never happened before!" Suakii listened carefully to their coversation, hearing bits and pieces of it. Deciding that she had heard enough, she put down the book that she had succeeded quite well at 'reading' and headed back toward her sister.

Sielio Walked out of the room with Eron, he was glad to get all that off his chest, they had been talking, er, having counsil for hours now, and Sielio had finnaly desided that the best thing he could do to prove himself to the people, to get out of the mess he had created...but he couldn't do it alone. He now knew he was weak, his own body and mind betrayed that, walking slowly he entered the counsil room once more, Eron on his heels.

"Kial?" he asked for the second time that day.

"Y-Yes, my lord?" Kial answered, preparing to face his king's fowl mood again

"First, I'm sorry, even a king has no right to yell at everyone, and second..." he started as Kial looked to him relived and sligtly confuzed at his lord's words, "...Where is that...that..." Sielio snapped his fingers, trying to remember the man's name"...Mordev! thats his name, Mordev! dose he have any plans prepared?"

Kial thought for a momment, this was the first time in a long time Sielio had asked too veiw someone elces plans, unfortunatly, it could not take place "He has gone, my lord! a few days ago, he left without word, he said only that he went to stop Genrik."

"Hmm... that poses a problem, I wish he would have told me why he left... did he say where he was going? wich direction did he leave in?" Sielio questioned, unrolling a map that lay on the table, Kial pointed him in the correct direction,

"He didn't say ecsactly where, but he went this direction," kial pointed south. "And by now he could be at any of these towns, Kail then pointed out the all towns near to the capital, there were many, too many.

"Well, I would very much still like to know what his plans are, could you ah, send for him? No, actually, I think I shall find him myself." Sielio looked up from the map, it would be good for him to get out of this place, he needed to see his people, Eron soon left to ready some of the personal gaurds, Four of them would set out, Sielio, Eron, and tow other gaurds, they would start out south and work their way down.

((Hey, can it be only, like two or three days since Mordev left, not seven? Please? Sielio needs to catch up....))

Sila barely noticed when her sister slipped away for a moment. She was still warily watching the man who had been there when they arrived. Something about him made her uncomfortable. She told herself that she was being silly. She was just jumpy from all the strange things that had been happening that day. But she still watched him out of the corner of her eye as she stood, trying to concentrate on the books.
Moments later Suakii returned. "What was that about?" she whispered.

Suakii turned to her sister,

"Hmm? Oh, that? Nothing." She lied, turning back to a book.

[sure and Sielio was the one that sent Mordev in the first place remember]

Mordev was waxing impatient, and with fruition so near, he could hardly afford to let the Kiani drift out of the study hall. He began a casual approach towards the two who appeared to be sisters - one black-haired, the other brown.

"Greetings," he said by way of a conversation starter. Inwardly, he cursed himself for an idiot. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't the most loquacious person in the world.

Sila drew her brows together as she looked at ther sister. She could tell that Suakii was holding something back. But just as she was about to press her for information. The man that she had been watching approached them.

"Greetings," he said.

Sila forced a polite smile to her lips. "Hello," she said uncomfortably. She edged a bit closer to Suakii.

Wait--is everyone in the same room, or not? The above posts are rather contradicting in that regard.

----

Aivon moved over to a nearby chair, sitting down before his knees would give out and display just how surprised he was.

"Rhaeryn, what did you do?" he asked, his eyes wide open. "Do you know what this means?"

His voice became a little more urgent and strained. "I can only think of one group of people who had powers like this--the Kiani, or more properly, the Ignae Kiani. None has been heard of since Grenik rebelled, and now you do--this!"

His hands were trembling with excitement, and inwardly he cursed himself. He hadn't had this lack of control in years, since he was still in training. And worse yet, he was speaking loudly, without heed for whoever might be listening. Taking a deep breath, he forced himself back to his feet, his eyes scanning the room to see if anyone might have overheard him.

((I think everyone's in one large room except Rhaeryn and Aivon, who are in a sort of adjacent room))

Rhaeryn looked a little frightened. "But I'm not one of those - Kiani!" she protested. Nevertheless, she couldn't deny that something unusual had happened - and she'd never seen Aivon so agitated. "At least, I don't think I am..." the girl added, with a touch of uncertainty. "It doesn't make sense."

Okay, thanks, Meldawen.

----

"I agree that it is beyond our understanding as to how you might be one, living here, since according to history, the Kiani were always of one family," Aivon replied, struggling to regain his calm demeanor. It would not do for something to happen while he was still flustered with this discovery, and now that he knew about Rhaeryn's ability, her value had just gone up a lot. He didn't want to say it to the girl, but if Grenik and Rhaeryn were both Kiani, and the Kiani were always family, then she was the younger sister of a man who was splitting the country in half, all because of a grudge.

If someone wanted a means of controlling Grenik, threatening to kill his younger sister might give them that means. Or someone might desire to hold her for ransom, which would still be very bad for both her and Aivon.

"Maybe I'm not, then?" suggested Rhaeryn hopefully, clutching her book still. Something seemed to occur to her. "But if I am...that would mean Mother and Dad aren't my parents, wouldn't it? Why wouldn't they tell me?"

She sat back in the chair looking exasperated. "I really just wanted to finish the book."

Aivon smiled humorlessly at the girl's statement. "I wish you hadn't wanted to so badly." He didn't answer her other question--he wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because he didn't really know, or maybe he just didn't want her to know. He sighed. "Well, we should probably go back. We don't have to tell anyone about this if you don't want them to know, okay?"

He glanced towards the door, and tensed as he saw a shadow ducking away, presumably into the next room (that would be Suakii, SG).

"Somebody's been listening," Aivon said, keeping his tone low. All turmoil was gone from his head, replaced with clear certainty now that he had his job to do. "Come with me, we're going to find out how much they know, and make sure they don't divulge it to anyone else unless it's okay with you."

He drew his sword when they neared the door, slipping through lightly. Apparently their eavesdropper had indeed gone into the next room. Aivon stepped through--and sighed again. Inside were several people--a number of girls, and one man talking to two of them.

Rhaeryn followed closely, the book tucked under her arm. She wasn't sure why she would want to keep this a secret or a very well guarded one, but Aivon probably had a very good reason that she hadn't thought of. Suddenly everyone looked suspicious. Looking down at her arm holding the book, Rhae saw herself flicker briefly out of sight and suddenly was almost sure that she really ought not to do it in such uncertain company.
