Arandur stopped fidgeting and stood up as straight as he could when the two men's eyes fell on him. He wanted to become a knight also, like Jhor. He hoped that they thought him good enough.

Gilan looked at the boy and then looked over at Halt, whispering quickly. "I have seen this one before...he won't work as a Ranger, Halt...the next one in line might, but this one is better as a Battle Apprentice." Both Halt and Gilan had decided on taking three apprentices this year. This would be Gilan's second out of his three.
Gilan walked over to the boy and said, "Arandur, I have watched you for many days now...you have natural talent with the blade that I haven't seen for many years. I would be honored to have you as my second Knight."

Halt nodded slowly to Gilan..
He eyed the boy.. Gilan was right, this boy was no ranger.
Halt looked at all the other boys and girls in line, three of them would be his apprentices..

Bryn looked nervous as the Ranger's eyes fell upon him. He froze and tried to look away from the Ranger's gaze, but he couldn't. He just stared at the man.

Arandur's chest swelled with triumph. He was going to be a knight. He couldn't keep the grin of excitement off his face.
"Yes, sir," he managed after a moment. He bowed his head, still grinning. "Thank you, sir."

Jhor wiggled (hehehe) with disapointment, the Master hadn't been watching him, and he had got no praise. Used to being told he was the best he felt an unfamiler feeling of jelousy uncoiling inside him.

Eilaga flinched, notecing she was next in line. So far the only two chosen were knights, and she wanted to be a ranger. She knew being a girl was a slight disadvantage, but she still felt confident. To stay calm, she named every horse her family had owned in the last years, which was much since her father trained horses...
