Strange little men, Elizabeth thought upon regarding Merry and Pippin absorbed in their talk of food, drink and hobbit comforts. Frodo and Sam were less preoccupied, she noticed, but altogether this ragtag troupe was intriguing. And what manner of man was that upon the rock, who bore an entirely inhuman lithe grace about him?

"Relax," she murmured to Will, catching his arm.

Pippin looked in Merry's sack instead of his own, knowing it was already empty. "Please don't tell me it's all gone?" he said in a desperate voice in the other hobbit's ear.

Jack in the meanwhile was the caboose of his company, examining anything he might find that looked shiney. His dark eyes then did catch something though, and it was the silver necklace around Aragorn's neck and indeed, it was shiney...very shiney.

Jack grinned to himsef and slowly started picking up the pace so he grew nearer to the Ranger. He settled a hand on the hilt of his sword while the other hand wiggled it's fingers at his side in a strange antsy mannor.

Frodo stood closer to Sam's side as the new comers were now within range of himself.

With his blue eyes scanning the faces of the them, he noticed Jack Sparrow's dark lined eyes. Whispering to Sam, he asked, "What does he have near his eyes Sam? Is it the work of Sauron?"
-----------------------------------------------

Will breathed softly and tried to relax, as Elizabeth's touch always softened his heart. "I understand, Elizabeth, but I must keep a close eye on all of them. Especially the little ones....looks can be deceiving."

Aragorn glanced down at the strange man and attempted to ignore him, but it was becoming increasingly difficult. "...Can I help you?" he finally asked without breaking stride. "I don't believe I caught your name."

Elizabeth let go his arm, suddenly self-conscious. She unwittingly bit her lip - she was promised. To Norrington. And she was beginning to realize just what this meant. It meant, even now, that Will must become a friend and nothing more. And if she couldn't manage it, couldn't see his deep eyes and stop her heart from subtly quickening, he could not be even that. "Aye, you're right," she replied, but her tone was changed.

"Should've brought pipeweed," said Merry matter-of-factly, chewing meditatively on his pipe and occasionally puffing hopefully as though a curl of pungent smoke might suddenly issue from the bowl of the little instrument and satisfy his longing. "Sam keeps on about rope, but I say pipeweed."

(*Looks around for other people* Ya still here mates?)

Will noticed the change in Elizabeth's body language and tone of voice. He realized that he was indeed growing more and more fond of Elizabeth...even in a time such as this. Knowing she was a promised woman to another man, Will sadly stepped away...giving Elizabeth her own room to breathe.

With his eyes shifting uneasily at the dirt ground, he said, "I suppose we should meet the others....even the small ones."

[do any of you guys want to take over Gandalf for Tur?]

"I don't know Mr. Frodo... I just don't know." replied Sam. Upon hearing Merry's comment, he flashed him a superior look, as if that fool would know anythin' about what to bring!

----

Boromir continued looking awkwardly at the pirates... he liked this not at all, and he wanted very badly to kill them now, rather than wait and see if they would kill them first.

Jack raised his eyebrows proudly, leaned into Aragorn's face and said with his mouth opened very widely, "Captain Jack Sparrow, my good mate..."

He awaited the man's reaction with eagerness and a sloppy grin plastered on his tan face.

Pippin sighed before he peeked into his bag again. No, no pipeweed left in sight. Just a pipe hidden in the sack waiting to be smoked.

The hobbit reached in and pulled it out with a growing quirky smile, "Say, Merry..." he said gesturing to Merry's sack and lifting the pipe to his lips.

Frodo strode away from Sam's side and walked closer to this strange looking man....if it even was a man.... Staring up at Jack, Frodo neared Aragorn's side and remained silent, but continued to stare at Jack's face.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance," Aragorn replied noncommitally, discreetly increasing the distance between himself and the new arrival.

"Will we be reachin' the camp shortly, then?" Barbossa inquired, glancing toward the spot where the sun had nearly sunk below the horizon. It wasn't that he really had a problem with what happened in the moonlight -he'd dealt with it for ten years, after all. But when trying to gain the assistance and trust of a new acquaintance, he'd found that turning into an undead skeleton before their eyes rarely did much for the relationship. "It'll be dark soon."

"Only a short distance further," Aragorn assured him. "We must camp among the rocks so that shelter is readily available should the need arise."

Elizabeth did not reply as they walked, only seemed to be lost in her own thoughts. Her hand absently went to play with the medallion about her neck, until she remembered it was no longer there. In fact...she cast an uneasy glance toward Barbossa and Jack where they both walked near that man. What was his name, something she'd never heard before? Aragon? Like in Spain? In any case, what would happen when the moon rose? She could not in any honesty see their tentative new acquaintances being at all predisposed to allow walkig skeletons a place in their camp.

"Hm?" said Merry as they walked, peering into his sack once more. "Still got no pipeweed, what's a pipe wi'out that?"

Pippin would've left the matter alone, but he couldn't help but say, "Then what ya smokin' then 'n there?" Pippin pointed towards the curls of smoke lifting from Merry's pipe and up into the sky.

Jack stepped towards Barbossa's side with a harsh nudge, "Beg pardon..." he said casually yet forcefully just to remind the so-called Captain Hector Barbossa that their disagreements were yet to be dealt with.

Seeing that something was troubling Elizabeth, Will mustered the courage to ask her yet another question....in a way....he almost couldn't resist speaking with her or looking at her.... "Is there something wrong, Eliza----" Will corrected himself to sound more like an aquaintance to her, "Excuse me....Is something wrong Miss Swann?"

Meanwhile, Frodo remained near Aragorn's side watching the conversation between the two taller men.

Near the end of the discussion, his small soft voice popped in, "Exactly how much farther, Aragorn?" His eyebrows frowned unhappily for you must remember, hobbits were not used to climbing high mountain tops or walking far distances.

"We're here," Aragorn announced as they reached a hilltop that had several tall stones protruding from it in random places. "We will have a good view of the surrounding area, as well as shelter should we need it. We will have to do without a campfire tonight, though. We cannot risk someone spotting it." The last remark was directed slightly more in the direction of a certain group of Hobbits, but it was relevant to all present. "After we have eaten some cold rations, our new arrivals can tell us their story."

Barbossa nodded shortly and sat down against one of the tallest rocks, pulling Sparrow down with him. "I will be staying in the shade for the night, Sparrow," he said in a low whisper. "I advise that ye do the same. An' do not make the mistake o' thinkin' this is over between us. I would still like nothin' more'n to see you dead- preferably by my own hand. However, to accomplish that, the curse has t' be lifted, an' for that to happen, we have to get back. So, for the time bein', I suggest that we at least pretend to be able to stomach one another."

[Mm, I guess I’ll take over Gandalf then?]

Boromir took Aragorn’s arm and pulled him off to the side, once they reached this site. He spoke hurriedly, and with no little feeling, casting venomous glances towards the direction of the pirates with each hastily uttered would.

“Aragorn... you and Gandalf; have you suddenly lost all sense and reason?! You are just going to let these people stay, and ignore the risk you are taking? Anyone being around the ...the ring, is difficult enough: but now you let mere strangers travel with us?”

Sam, on the other hand, kept a watchful eye on Frodo, but walked back towards the other hobbits curiously. Them and their pipeweed. He was about to say something sharp towards Pippin, when he turned toward the horizon instead. It had suddenly grown very dark... and they were alone in this place with utter strangers.
