Okay, so this RPG is based on praciticing for shows. Lots of shows...I'll schedule all of them. There's a hunter show coming up, so get ready. Name: Elly Thompson Age: 19 Hair: Blonde Eyes: Blue Other: Starlight' owner Name:Starlight Age:7 Gender:Mare Breed:Thoroughbred Color:Bay Markings:Star Skills: Jumping ________________________ Elly led Starlight out to the arena and mounted. Starlight moved forward anxiously and walked on the rail. After several circuits, Elly asked for Starlight to trot. Elly's legs gently pressed around Starlight's barrel, and her seat was still but forward. Starlight picked up a smooth trot tracking left. Elly posted quietly. She was sure Starlight was the smoothest horse she had ever ridden in her life. Elly smiled and reversed at the trot. Starlight's breathing grew louder. It was not a normal sound. Starlight had strangles a while ago, and it had affected her breathing. It was normal for Starlight. Starlight moved into the canter at Elly's aids. Her smooth gait felt flowy and collected under Elly. She headed for the line up, tracking right. There were two 2' verticals three strides apart. Starlight cantered and gracefully lifted her legs over, clearing it with inches to spare. "3, 2, 1." Elly counted the strides under her breath and rose into position. Starlight landed on her right lead and they headed for a diaganol line. There was a 2'6 vertical anf four strides after to a 3 foot oxer. Elly boxed Starlight in with her aids and they jumped it no problem. Elly adjusted Starlight's stride and approached the oxer. "Easy girl," Elly said. She felt Starlight gather herself and let her ring her into position. It felt perfect. Starlight's knees tucked underneath her and they soared over it. "Good girl, Starlight!" Elly exclaimed and headed for a 3'6 oxer. Starlight pushed over it again smoothly and landed for 2 strides for a small 2' panel jump. She easily jumped it and Elly brought her down to a walk. She would take a break, and then do some harder courses. |

Elly dismounted and Starlight followed behind her. Elly raised the jump cups on several oxers and verticals, and lowered some to 2' verticals. She mounted and trotted around to one of the inside lines. There were two 2'6 verticals one stride apart. Elly circled Starlight and cantered around the rail. She bent Starlight to the inside and lined her up with the middle of the jump, her eyes focused over the second jump in the combination. Starlight got a short spot and knocked the first pole off. Elly held her for two short strides instead, and they cleared the second jump. Elly collected her pace and headed to a low line down, 2' verticals that were six strides apart. This would be good practice for the show. Elly halted a little bit before, so that the jumps were facing her left shoulder. She picked up a trot and circled. When she was lined up she sat at a resting trot and headed towards the first jump. Starlight jumped it effortlessly and landed in a canter. Elly halted and back her up gently, for practice, not punishment. She halted again and patted Starlight's neck. She picked up an extended trot and jumped the second vertical, landing in a canter. She brought Starlight down to a collected trot again and headed for a 2'6 vertical panel jump. She sat and waited, letting Starlight canter a few strides before. They jumped it long, and lengthened their stride to a crosspole in the same line. Starlight jumped it and breathed louder. "Good girl, Starlight." Elly smiled and took her feet out of the stirrups. She headed out of the arena, seeing Kayden on the way out with Diesel. |

Kayden waved at Elly and led Diesel into the jumping arena. The jumps were set pretty high, and she didn't want to tire Diesel. She lowered some of them and mounted, picking up a steady walk on the rail. |

Hailey led Universe to the start of an advanced cross country course. She mounted and started the stop watch. "Go!" she said and urged Universe into a gallop to gallop over the first two strait forward jumped. She cantered the next wich was a complicated water jump. Finally, after awhile the last jumpe came, and huge fallen log. Universe jumped it, and across the finnishe line and Hailey stopped the stopp watch. "5.30! new record!" she said hugging the stallion's neck... |

Elly groomed Starlight's saddle area and untied her from the hitching post. She led her up to the wash racks and clipped the chain cross ties onto the side rings of Starlight's halter. "Good girl, Starlight." Elly said and turned on the hose. The water was running warm, so Elly waited until it cooled down. She let the hose dangle above Starlight's back and watched as it ran down both sides of her saddle area. She washed the sweat from where Starlight's girth was and hosed off her legs, one by one, to reduce stiffness and swelling. Loose dirt from the dusty arena drifted off and into a puddle on the concrete floor. Elly finished hosing her off and sweat scraped the excess water. She led Starlight back to her stall and let her roll in the shavings. It was a hot day, and it would feel good for Starlight to be damp. |

Diesel cantered on the rail, his head carriage behind the bit. Kayden softened her hands and loosened the reins to give him a little bit of slack. His head raised and he relaxed his poll. "Good boy," Kayden praised, and headed towards a 3' vertical line on the rail. She set Diesel up and sat until the last moment, where he lifted her up into two-point. She grinned. Diesel was doing better than ever, and they were ready for the upcoming show. "Easy," Kayden soothed, and shortened his stride before the next vertical. She felt Diesel gather himself and lift, sending her into two-point again. She smiled and rubbed her hand up and down on his neck while they cantered. |

Elly led a bay Thoroughbred gelding out of his stall. His name was Tahoe, and he was one of the schooling horses that Elly used for lessons. She groomed him and tacked him up, and led him to the jumping arena. It looked like Kayden had finished up, and she set the jumps all to 2'6 verticals and oxers. She mounted and buckled her helmet. Tahoe walked on the rail, his ears to the side and his head low. He was lazy during warmup, but he had a whole different personality when he was jumping. After many circuits of trotting and cantering, Elly let him rest and thought of a course in her head. She made it difficult, possibly similar to the courses they'd see at the show. One of Elly's students, Kailey, would be competing with Tahoe in shows. Elly took the lineup. Tahoe felt very different from Starlight. His stride was bouncier, and his jump was thrusted more. But Elly got up into two-point just fine and landed perfectly set up for the next vertical. Tahoe cleared the second vertical and they were on to a vertical followed by an oxer, two strides apart. They cleared it and headed to the panel jump. Tahoe knocked it, taking off too short before. Elly circled back and tried it again. This time, Tahoe got his spot and cleared it no problem. She brought him down to a walk and cooled him off. |

Hailey led Dragon to the western riding ring. She set up some barrels, and mounted. "go" she said as she started the stop-watch. The white horse charged forward, barely needing guidence from his rider, he knew what to do, and did his best. Around the first barrel, then to the second. Slow down around the turn, then speed up to the third, and the tight turn was almost taken too fast, but they made it. Then the dash to the finnish. "13.6! thats good. a few more times!" Hailey said. They did so and the times were 14.1, and 13.2. Next Hailey set up the poles and barrels for something called the Big-T. It was weaving through about five poles then go to a barrel, around it, to another barrel, around it, back through the poles to the finnish line. The formation made a big T(like it says in the name) Hailey did this three or four times so Dragon could get used to it, since it was his first time doing the Big-T. Hailey walked him around the arena a few times before setting up the KeyHole. Good times there, and now Dragon was sweating in persperation... |

Kayden half-halted Diesel and set him up for the triple combination. She held her hands up and kept him boxed in, mentally counting her strides. 1...2...3...up. Diesel jumped the first one and the last two perfectly. Kayden brought him down to a halt and patted his neck. "Good boy Diesel." |

It was getting dark. Elly went into the tackroom and scooped some grain into a bucket for Starlight. She added supplements and dumped it into Starlight 's food trough and got in her pickup truck to go home. |
