Post subject:  Revolution [a scif fi/ fantasy RPG]

In the highly technological fantasy universe of Raen, Elves have become prejudice against any who are not their own kind. And owing to their own abilities and attributes, they have become a race exalted, tyrannizing over any other people who would slow them down.

Namely, mortals.

The human race has neither grown as strong or advanced as fast as the elves, and now they find themselves up against drastic social equality. Always forced to take the lower standing, treated unjustly in every dealing, living under the prejudiced eye of the higher class every day; a growing rebellion rises in the hearts of the mortal people... but their is no apparent way of escape from this life.

Until five humans are unjustly accused of a crime they had no part in, and exiled away from any of the known civilized world.

Until five humans grow desperate for a way to escape.

Until five humans start a revolution.

[races]
There are five key races in the universe of Raen; dwarves, elves, humans, water nymphs, and vampires. Your character may be any one of those, if you will please just read the following guidelines and follow them.

Elves: The upper class, dominant race of Raen, the Elves are generally set on achieving their goals through any means, including that sinister or ignoble. They've had a rather formal alliance with the dwarves for some time in the rule of their nations, and are both set against driving the vampires out of Raen. The vampires are their only true competition, as the mortals are no match for them. Immortal, highly advanced technology, and holding the high offices in politics.

Humans: In a metaphorical sense, they are enslaved by the elves - having no true rights or freedoms of their own. Their number has grown smaller and more scattered through the years; they have no position in politics, and very little advanced technology. (I think the elves would classify their machines as ...junk.) Until the time of this RPG, have had very little contact with any of the other races. Through ignorance and rumors, they also have a fear of the vampires - and want nothing to do with them.

Dwarves: Allied with the elves in the cause for human subordination, and also in the growing tension against vampires. They have a long life span, the highest advanced technology of any race, and tend to keep to themselves. Although they don't have as much control as the elves, the are equally powerful.

Vampires: They are a race, and not a contractible condition. Technology has enabled them to find others means to live off of besides blood, just as advanced medicine has enabled them to go out in the sunlight, although they are still definitely nocturnal and being in the sunlight for long periods of time makes them quick-tempered. In their physical appearance they are much like elves, although personality-wise they are darker, more devious, and slightly unpredictable. Their technology is advanced, but different from the other races.

Water Nymphs: A race that, for the most part, is mysterious and unheard of. They are the only real magic-users of Raen, and even they use very little, but depend upon it in the place of technology, which they are slightly averse to. Uninterested in the affairs of the rest of the world, they stay within their own communities. The nymphs appear to look much like humans (perhaps more fragile), but can also take on various liquid forms.

Hey, could I be one of the Humans?

Post subject:

Aye, if you're willing to stick it out through the RPG, since the five main humans will be needed as main charries. Just post your bio in the other thread, please.

Ooh, interesting. Might I join? Is there someone you need besides the fifth human? I love playing opposing characters, creating destruction and friction, all that stuff.

It'd be excellent if you could be one of the opening elves. Perhaps the one who escorts the humans to exile? I might even create an elf bio and be your companion.

Cool. :D I'll do that. I might grab a nymph too, just for fun.

Can I be a main human, and possibly a vampire?

Could I take an elf- maybe another who takes the humans into exile? This sounds cool!

Post subject:

Yes Elenya, that'd be great.
Freya Baggins, sorry, the main humans are all taken... but you could be a vampire, or perhaps another human who enters later in the story?

Oh, ok. When I posted there was still one spot left... I'll be a vampire and a later-entrant human, how about that?

smeagollum: Erm, well an equal amount is nice... but for this particular story, I should think more guys would come in handy.
Caunion: Yes of course!
Freya: Yes, I hadn't put her name up... my apologies. But yes, that would work fine.

I was just wondering. For the different races, are you going to give us a specific background or can we invent it?

Could I join as a vampire? Just one question, what exactly would all the people who are not the five main humans or the elves/dwarves (so vamps and nymphs) be doing: helping the humans or trying to opress them? Or is it our choice?
