I would like people to remain active in this RP since a lot of people tend to drop out or forget about roleplays. If you know you aren't going to be on a lot, I ask that you take a minor character so that we don't lose anyone essential along the way. We will start the roleplay once it appears we have enough people. Thank you.



The Plot ::

In a small Tortuga inn, a group of legendary pirates has gathered to discuss the location of a fabled treasure, said to exist somewhere in the Caribbean. These pirates have come from all corners of the world to hear what Varianna Pierce has in store; a journey to retrieve said treasure. The island is said to be cursed - few have gone there, yet the pirates willing to follow Vari fail to be daunted. Unfortunately, what they don't know is that the East India Trading Company has sent spies to retrieve information.


Where the Story Begins :: At an inn in Tortuga where the pirates are gathered to discuss the location of the treasure. From there, the pirates will take a ship to the island where the treasure is said to be. The EITC will track down the pirates and attempt to capture them and the treasure.

Apparel: A red button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows, a black corset/vest over the red shirt, a pair of black pants that go down to the knees and black stockings. Her shoes resemble those of the British Navy, with gold buckles and a small heel. Also wears a red bandanna given to her by her now deceased fiancé, Richard.

Personality: Vari doesn't like to be messed with. When she's angry, nobody dares to get in her way. She also enjoys gambling and has a special pair of loaded dice on her person at all times. Vari doesn’t like talking about her past, especially about her fiancé, Richard Chandler, who was killed by Lord Cutler Beckett. She’s more of an “act-now-think-later” person.

Weapons: Varianna's weapons include her trusted sword, her gun, and a dagger decorated with dragons from Singapore.

Background/History: Varianna Korinda Degaldo Pierce was born on April 27th in the Caribbean. Her mother, Maribel Degaldo-Pierce, was a maid and her father, Peter Pierce, was a servant. The living conditions of Vari's family were horrible. Her parents’ incomes were just not enough to support themselves and their daughter. By the time Varianna was two, Peter and Maribel had another daughter named Keyara. Now with four members in the family, it became too clear that Maribel and Peter needed to find new jobs with higher wages or risk not being able to survive.

Varianna was 13 when her mother became sick with influenza. The doctor that came to their house each day only saw Maribel’s condition worsening, until eventually Vari’s mother died from the illness. Her father fell into a terrible depression and became keen on drinking himself to sleep each night, having a habit of passing out in Maribel’s favorite rocking chair. Varianna would always be the one that tried to take care of him and keep the house in order at the same time. Keyara made the decision to run away and never came back again. Peter eventually died in an alcoholic coma and the house was taken by the government in Port Royal.

Now on her own, Varianna gathered her belongings and took to the streets, trying to find a job so she could afford to eat. No one hired her, mostly because of her appearance and the fact she was a young girl and didn’t have many working skills. As a last resort, she began to steal; some bread here, some pork there, until finally it became a habit. The navy never suspected her, although many shopkeepers were wary. Impressed by her own luck, Varianna stole a map from a local cartographer and set her eyes on an island called Tortuga.

For four years, Varianna pondered over the stolen map. Until now, it had never occurred to her to steal a ship, but she was able to, with help from some acquaintances who had also caused mischief. She called the ship the Phoenix after becoming intrigued by the myths of an ancient bird that lived for 500 years, only to set itself aflame and have a new phoenix rise in its place. And after all, it had been a symbol to mark her adulthood; burning her troubling past and creating a new future.

Once the Phoenix entered the port of Tortuga, Varianna immediately gathered a crew of twelve at a tavern called The Spyglass. The adventurous lot raided many homes and stole from various citizens, but due to the lack of protocol in Tortuga, they were never caught. Now that Varianna had a taste of piracy, she began to grow fond of it. Richard Chandler, her first mate, had been the first to give her the nickname Vari; it would stick with her for the rest of her life. It wasn’t long before Richard and Varianna were madly in love; so much so that they were engaged nearly five months after their first meeting. This greatly upset crewmember, Edward Blackhaven, who also had become close to the captain. The rest of the crew was excited to hear the news of a wedding; if everything went according to plan, soon she would be Varianna Chandler.

Unfortunately, things did not go as planned, when a month later the Phoenix was encountered by the Endeavour, the flagship of the East India Company, captained by Lord Cutler Beckett. Captain Pierce and the crew were taken captive and the Phoenix was destroyed by the Endeavour’s numerous cannons. In a struggle on board the Endeavour, most of the crew of the Phoenix was slaughtered. Among those killed were Richard, shot and killed by a soldier’s bayonet, in front of Varianna’s eyes. In an attempt to escape, Edward Blackhaven and Samantha Selby, two of Vari’s close friends, took her with them as they jumped overboard. The stormy sea engulfed their human chain and sent the three in different directions, never to be seen again.

When Varianna washed up on shore, she found herself on an island with few inhabitants. Among those was Jack Sparrow, who had stopped by to gather supplies [namely rum]. After hearing her story, he allowed her to join his crew. Their friendship was nothing less than rocky and filled with threats. The two bonded a bit and became closer, but Jack still found her to be like a little sister, who could be annoying at times, but someone he could also rely on and trust. For ten years she served under his command before deciding that she wanted to make a name for herself and not be associated with a drunken, yet smart, fool.

Vari left Jack’s crew to start anew; she gained another crew and captained a ship named the Red Raven until she was mutinied upon.

Other Notes: *Vari has a rivalry with her sister Keyara because she abandoned her when they were younger and was taken in by a soldier of the Royal Navy. The feeling is mutual; Keyara has no respect toward her older sister because she chose to turn pirate while she herself is trying to put an end to piracy.

*Vari uses her mother’s maiden name Degaldo when in disguise; she is known as Degaldo around Tortuga in a majority of the taverns.

*Currently she is the Captain of the Sparrow, named for her old time friend, Jack Sparrow

*Vari and Edward Blackhaven were eventually married and had three children together - Ian, Arden and William.

Apparel: Normally Keyara is clad in Redcoat apparel, but when in disguise, a long tattered overcoat, old breeches and dirty boots. Sometimes she can be found in a gown, but it’s highly unlikely unless she’s taking a well deserved break from fighting or negotiating.

Personality: Keyara is very crafty and sly; she can get her own way with just a little persuasion and is very impatient, just like her sister. Sometimes she can hide her emotions from others, but usually she openly expresses her opinions and how she feels. In addition, Keyara absolutely hates discussing her past because she feels ashamed of it.

Weapons: A pistol [her weapon of choice] and a sword. She knows how to use a bayonet, due to her growing up to a foster father in the Navy.

Background/History: Keyara Pierce was born on July 6th in the Caribbean. Her mother, Maribel Degaldo-Pierce, was a maid and her father, Peter Pierce, was a servant. The living conditions of her family were horrible, and by the time Keyara was born, her sister Varianna was already two years old. Now with four members in the family, it was clear that Maribel and Peter needed to find new jobs with higher wages or risk not being able to survive.

When she was 11, Keyara made the decision to run away from her home, leaving her sister behind to take care of things. She wanted nothing to do with her past life and forget all of the hardships she felt that she had caused. Eventually, she was taken in by a foster father, Nathanial Cantrell, who held a position in the Royal Navy. Nathanial already had a son, Oliver Cantrell, and at first Keyara didn’t like the younger boy, but over time they played together like a real brother and sister.

When she turned 18, Keyara left the Cantrell home in order to try and find a job and make her own income. For a while she assisted a famous Port Royal tailor as an apprentice and heard lots of stories about London from his customers. With enough money now, she boarded a ship and sailed across the ocean to experience firsthand all of the stories she’d been told.

By 20, Keyara came back to the Caribbean to stay; London had been a wondrous escape for a while, but she began once again to long for home. It was here that Keyara heard news of her now 22-year-old sister Varianna, who had turned pirate and was traveling with the most notorious pirate of them all - Jack Sparrow. Keyara loathed the fact that Varianna had betrayed her so by her actions and decided to take matters in her own hands. They may have been sisters, but they were never friends, she decided. And so, Keyara felt it was her job to put an end to her sister’s ways of piracy and all pirates alike.

At 25, Keyara became acquainted with Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company when she arrived in his office to inform him that Jack Sparrow had been allowed to escape his own hanging with the help of James Norrington, William Turner and Elizabeth Swann. In an attempt to win his trust, she offered to bring Lord Beckett the Dead Man’s Chest and all of its contents; with no idea that he would only use her to obtain the chest and toss her aside like an weatherworn rag. Instead, she began to feel a sort of attraction to him and fell in love, even though she was reluctant to admit it…

Other Notes: *Keyara and Lord Cutler Beckett (of the East India Trading Company) have a love/hate relationship filled with cunning and betrayal. [Beckara]

*In an alternate version where Keyara and Cutler are married, the two have four children - Isabella, Jonathan, Olivia & Abigail [identical twins]

Weapon: A pistol and a pair of knives, as well as a sharp metal throwing spike, possibly of her own creation.

Occupation: Pirate extraordinaire *takes a bow* and captain of the Marauder

Physical Description: Storm is stunning in appearance. Her skin is tanned, golden from the sun's rays, and her hair is such a flaxen blond that it almost looked white. Her smile is white and eager, and her eyes are the color that any pirate craves - as golden as two doubloons. Silver bangles grace her bare arms, her simple white tunic having had the sleeves torn off just above the elbow.

Apparel: Usually clad in white, which contrasts strongly to her golden image. Knee-high leather boots or barefoot. Also, her wild mane of hair is often tied up with a blood-red ribbon, usually the only source of real color in her outfits.

Personality: Storm is egotistical to the point that she lives by a philosophy that everyone loves her. She is bold, often quite forthright and scandalous, and can become violent if provoked, which is easy to do due to her quick temper. Storm has been known to kill those that do not delight her, and it does not delight her to be unloved.
If she sounds crazy to you, well, she is, but it's not her fault. Married off at a young age, Storm had been sailing with her newlywed husband to a small island for their honeymoon when a vicious storm struck. The shipwreck left the crew badly beaten, especially our young Stormy. The wreck had left her barely alive after her head smashed into the mast. She slipped into a deep coma while the ship found port in a small unknown town. Seeing that she would be deeply traumatized if she even survived, her husband abandoned her in the care of the local medic, not wanting the burden of a 'crazy wife.'
She survived, but her mind was indeed never the same; little of her memory still exists, save for what occasionally comes back to her in violent, angry flashbacks. It is unsure whether she knows about her husband abandoning her. Perhaps this is the psychological reason for her outlandish behavior and demand for attention...
She still bares a thin white scar on the back of her neck.

Weapon: Usually his fists, but if his opponent is "cowardly", he'll settle for a pistol or a knife or whatever else he can get his hands on.

Occupation: First mate of the Marauder. Also, he's on constant duty of keeping Storm in check.

Physical Description: Bastian is tall and muscular, a hulking bull of a man. He's a bit on the unkempt, scruffy side. Brown hair, dark brown eyes, tawny skin.

Apparel: A black tunic over his bare chest and black breeches. Worn leather boots. Simple, perhaps careless, in his attire.

Personality: Bastian is the more level-headed out of the dynamic duo. He keeps Storm's wild temperament in control and 'tries' as best he can to control her and keep her from being too much of a disruption, or from getting into trouble (much like a bouncer of sorts). Often viewed as the real leader of the crew, though none would DARE suggest so out loud. Also, he tends to be quick-witted and sarcastic.

History: Little is known.

*Other notes...
~Bastian secretly (and quite madly) loves Storm, hence his protectiveness.
~Storm views Bastian as nothing more then 'that one night fling' (which he was). Poor Bastian's been overlooked many times since then, forced to keep his mouth shut while Storm goes after other men.

History:: Grew up the younger son of a Greek fisherman. Eventually, Belial found his way to Tortuga. He lounged around the port for a while, and ended up in the inn with the others.

Character: Kind, Tender-hearted, Shy, Reserved, but headstrong when need be. She hides all of these when she becomes a pirate.
History: Kaelyn is the daughter of notorious Pirate Jack Sparrow and Daughter of Anna. Kaelyn basically tended the house from a young age and tended to her mother who was broken hearted. She worked 3 jobs to fend for them. Left Port Royal for a year and was betrothed to a Pete Gray but was cheated on and returned home. After the death of her mother and loss of her jobs Kaelyn couldn't take much more. She stole a ship and set out to sail the seas as one of the first Pirate Captain who were women. She named her ship Calypso's Revenge and took to the high seas, engaging in the life of piracy and she loved every second of it. She eventually followed in her father's footsteps and was wanted by the Government. But she was witty enough to avoid their clutches.

History: Not much is known about Killian. He won't ever truly open up. But from what we do know he was running from his Father who was a priest in England. He basically controlled and ruled Killian's life but he wanted adventure, he wanted to decide his own fate, not have it be decided for him. So he boarded a merchant vessel for Tortuga. His ship was later raided by Captain Blade and he became her first mate and Best Friend.
