Everyone is welcome to join this RP! I hope a lot of you do. It won't be starting for a little while, so you have plenty of time to think of character bios. I think I have provided all the needed information below. Enjoy! :-D

The House of Gaian

This RPG will be based on the Tir Allain Trilogy by Anne Bishop. *You do not have to have read the books to join!*

For as long as anyone can remember, humans have lived at peace in their world, almost unaware of the presence of the mysterious Fae who live in Tir Allain, a world seperated from theirs by only a series of shining roads. Each shining road is found in an Old Place, a place of magic. But suddenly the shining roads began to disappear, and the Fae clans who lived at the end of those roads are never heard of or seen again. This strange occurence began in the lands of Arktos and Wolfram and slowly made its way to Sylvalan. The clans in Sylvalan have been warned of the disappearances of the other clans but still have no defense against it.

Meanwhile, in the human world, a group of men who call themselves Inquisitors have risen in the east. They have scoured the lands of Arktos and Wolfram, brutally torturing and murdering families of witches. Until the Inquisitors planted seeds of hate among other villagers, witches had been largely ignored. Staying in the Old Places, witches are peaceful women who have affinities to one or more of the four branches of the Mother: air, earth, fire, and water. The Master Inquisitor, spurred by fear and hatred, wishes to purge the world of all magic and put women in their "rightful places" while doing so.

A clan of Fae in Sylvalan began to take an interest in the witch living in the Old Place at which their shining road is anchored. Through much research and reading, they discover that the witches are actually remnants of the House of Gaian, the magical creators of Tir Allain. They also find that the shining roads can only remain anchored to the Old Places when a witch and her magic reside there. By slaughtering the witches, the Inquisitors have also accomplished destroying peices of Tir Allain and the Fae race.

Most of the Fae, believing as they always have that they are the highest beings of all, refuse to acknowledge the witches' power and significance. A few, however, have realized that their fates are tied to the survival of the witches and have vowed to ensure the protection of these women at all costs. But still the Inquisitors raze the land of Sylvalan turning the barons, leaders of the counties, to their insane ideals. The Fae and witches must band together to stop the madness from spreading even farther and save the world as the know it.

Okay so that probably wasn't the best description ever, but it was as good as I could do. If anyone has any questions or doesn't understand something feel free to ask. Now here are some explanations of the names and terms used:

Tir Allain- The world of the Fae. It is a perfect place, a Utopia.

Sylvalan- Country in which our story will take place.

Fae- A mysterious race. Long thought of to be the most powerful and feared beings known. They can be distinguished from humans physically by their pointed ears and feral featured faces. They have the ability to change into one other form, and they each have a certain area of exceptional skill and/or knowledge. ---EDIT--- The western Fae clans are considered strange by the other clans. They spend most of their time in the human world and socialize (even occasionally develop relationships) with humans. They are shunned by many other clans.

Witches- The House of Gaian was assumed to have been lost, but it has recently been rediscovered in witches. Witches are peaceful women who live by a creed that states to never use their powers for harm. Each has the ability to use a branch(es) of the mother. Most have only the ability to utilize one or occasionally two. Also known as Wiccanfae.

Barons- Leaders of individual counties in Sylvalan. (Similar to a mayor).

Inquisitors- Group of men who poison villagers into believing that witches have caused many problems in the communities. Their main purpose is to murder the witches. They have some small magical abilities that they use to cause ails in the communities that they blame the witches for.

Branches of the Mother- The elements air, earth, fire, and water.

I think that covers it for explaining things, but like I said before feel free to ask questions! I have no real goal for where I want the RPG to go, so it's pretty much open. You can play as a witch, Fae, townsperson, or an Inquisitor, basically anything! I'll post my characters and rules later. Hope a lot of you are interested!

---EDIT---

I thought I would add in a list of characters needed, so that those of you interested can start thinking up bios.

Witches (must be female)
Fae
- The Bard (the Fae Lord of Song; must be male; companion of the Muse)
- The Muse (TAKEN; the Fae Lady of Stories)- Artemis
- The Hunter (TAKEN; Male; Fae Lord of the Woods)- Turwaithion
- The Huntress/Lady of the Moon (TAKEN; Female leader of all the Fae)- Maethoriel
- The Lightbringer/Lord of the Sun and Fire (TAKEN; Male leader of Fae; brother of the Huntress)- Turwaithiel Swann
- The Lord/Lady of Horse (male or female; specializes in equestrian knowledge and skill)
- Gatherer of Souls (TAKEN; male or female; collects souls of the dead and leads them to the veil separating the worlds of the living and the dead; can also use power to take a soul from a living body.)- Nienna of Rohan
-Sleep Sister/ Lady of Dreams (female; can send messages through dreams and put people to sleep; can choose to give people restless or good sleep)
- Other minor lords and ladies of song, stories, woods, or horse (all these defer to their respective leaders as shown above).
Humans
-Master Inquisitor (must be male)
- other Inquisitors (also male)
- Barons (again male)
- townspeople (male or female)

Not all of these must be filled. They are just suggestions.

My Bios

Name: Ayaren
Gender: Female
Age: 30
Race: Fae

Position (applies only to Fae): The Muse
Alternate Form (applies only to Fae): A fox
Weapon(s): A bow, however, she is not extremely skilled with it and prefers to talk her way out of trouble.

Appearance: Ayaren is tall and willowy, with long wavy auburn hair. She is beautiful only in the feral way that Fae can be, but most humans would not find her overly attractive. She has extremely fair skin. Her ears come to very defined points, and her eyes are pale blue.
Personality: As could be assumed of someone whose calling is words, Ayaren's witty sarcasm can cut to the bone. Not being especially skilled in any weaponry, she hones this tool often. She is sly and intelligent. She is fiercly loyal to her companions, and hates her foes with a passion. Her downfalls are her quick temper and her unfailing stubbornness.
History: Will find out later (.... in other words, I don't know yet :-D )

Name: Rhys
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Race: Witch

Affinities (applies only to witches): Strong affinity to Earth
Weapons: None

Appearance: Rhys is small and thin, many could mistake her body for that of a young boy. She has an attractive heart shaped face framed by short raven black hair. She has woodland eyes, a mixture of dark green and brown. Her skin is slightly tanned from working outside.
Personality: As a young girl, Rhys was very open, trusting, and friendly. She was willing to talk to and befriend anybody. But with the recent invasion of the Inquisitors and the deaths of her family, she has become much more wary. Still a kind, loving girl at heart, now her first instict is to suspect strangers rather than welcome them.
History: Rhys was raised in a large woodland home with her mother, grandmother, and two young cousins. The family of witches lived for many years on the outskirts of town, bothering and being bothered by no one. As most witches, they were met with a cold welcome in their village, but they were content to remain among their family anyways. One day, Rhys's mother sent her into the village for supplies. She had to make an overnight trip, and when she got back she found her home burned and her family slaughtered. Knowing the Inquisitors would surely be searching for her, she ran. She is still on the run now, taking refuge wherever she can.

Basically all you need to know is in the first post I think, but I'll give some info here in case I left out something important. Let's see... Most of the Fae clans live in Tir Allain permanently, coming to the human world only occasionally to amuse themselves. Typically the Fae in these clans are arrogant and self-serving. The Fae in the west, however, establish their clan houses in the Old Places of the human world. Only the old and sickly live permanently in Tir Allain. The rest just go occasionally to visit. These Fae are typically more understanding and welcoming of humans and witches. Each Fae can shift into one other form. Each Fae also is the Lord/Lady of their "calling." Most are just minor lords and ladies, but others (like the ones I listed up top) kind of rule over the other Fae of their calling. I hope none of that was confusing. Anything else you want to know?

Sure. Are they physically superior to humans? Are they immortal? Just little details like that.

Turwaithion- They have the basically the same life span as humans except for the Fae who live permanently in Tir Allain would probably live longer because Tir Allain is a sort of Utopia/Heaven like place. The only physical differences in Fae and humans is Fae have pointed ears and feral faces (wild/more harsh looking).

Maethoriel- Welcome :) I'll mark you down. Just so you know, your role is pretty important. All the Fae sort of defer to you.

Lol yeah, no pressure. Really :) Like I said up top, I don't really have any set in stone ideas for this RPG, so your character can be as big and important as you have time for :-D No worries, mate!

I would like to join :)

Name: Evelynn
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Race: Witch
Affinities (applies only to witches): Has strong affinity with Fire
Weapons: None
Appearance: Evelynn has flaming red hair and clear green eyes. Her pale skin is covered with freckles. She wears a simple green dress and black cloak when colder.
Personality: Evelynn has a fiery temper: she has great passion for her nature and her work within it. The silly and shallow thinking angers her and she often had trouble to keep up her pretenses to be just like them. Loyal to her true friends.
History: Evelynn was left by her mom on the steps of the church right after she was born and spend her early childhood in an orphange. Already then she had noticed she was different from the others but did not realise yet what that meant. When Evelynn had the age of 8 a woman named Juniper came to get her. People whispered that Juniper was a witch as she knew alot of herbs and species, and Evelynn was scared to death when she was brought to the small house of the woman on the edge of the woods. Soon she learnt though that Juniper's witchcraft was that of a good kind and that it was her destiny as well to be a witch.
One night, years later, when Evelynn returned from her daily walkabout through the forest to collect spices she found that a mob of people had surrounded the house, all carrying flaming torches. They brought Juniper to the Inquisitors and the next day, black smook arose from the village square. Evelynn realised what this meant and not having the heart or guts to enter town again and fled into the woods.

Name: Aildara mac Cathan*
Gender: Male
Age: 46
Race: Fae
Position (applies only to Fae): The Hunter
Alternate Form (applies only to Fae): A white stag
Weapon(s)[/b]: A bow, with which he is extremely skilled. He also carries a stout knife.
Appearance: Aildara has a thin build, feral features unique to his people, and sharply pointed ears. He has a black tattoo on his cheek, a swirling line that morphs into a stag's head. His skin is white, and he has brown hair that falls to the base of his neck. He wears garments of green, and a brown jerkin. He has 5 scars across his chest and one directly over his eye, from a bear's mauling sustained in his youth.
Personality: Aildara is a passionate supporter of the Witches, and his voice has defended them in many a Council. Though he obeys both the Huntress and Lightbringer, he would defend his followers and family over his Lord and Lady if he needed to. He has often said that the woods and hunt are his mistresses, and he is rarely in his hall. He is a relatively carefree Fae, but has a grave side that is showing itself more as the situation for his people gravens.
History: When Aildara was born, his father was brought back on a brier, killed by a dying bear. As the new lord of his clan, he followed in his father's steps and took to the woods at every oppourtunity. He followed the shining roads into the human lands often, and it was hunting there that he nealy met his father's fate. As a member of the western Fae clans, he met often with Humans, and became a figure of local legend, his hunting parties often sighted in the woods for fleeting moments.

It was on such a hunt in Sylvalan that he met his wife, a human woman named Dierdre. Though his clansmen and fellow Fae were in uproar when the pair were wed, none opposed the Lord of the Woods when he did not attempt to take his human wife into Tir Allain.

Aildara's ventures into Sylvalan became more frequents, and his huntsmen often returned without thier Lord, despite having successful trips. When Dierdre gave birth to Aildara's son, his Clan accepted the child as one of thier own.

However, it was then that other Fae clans began to dissapear. Mystified, Aildara led parties to serch for the Fae, both in Tir Allain and in the human lands, but in vain. He led Dierdre and thier son Maerdrann into hiding, fearing something was moving against the Fae. While he had made an alliance with the Witches, he was powerless to stop thier execution by the Inquisitors. When the Fae calns discovered the witches true bloodline, Aildara led his huntsmen again from Tir Allain to assist them in any way hey could, Maedrann, now 19, at his side.

*Aildara-'noble oak' in Old Irish[/b]

Name: Kurgan
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Race: Men
Position : The Baron
Allegiance: Inquisitors
Weapon(s): He is armed with sword of which he is not so extremely skilled due to the fact that his men do the necessary jobs for him, two deggars concealed in his belt; one of which is located at front side of the belt and the other is back. He has not mastered in the use of swords, bows or spears as efficiently as the ones who spend their years in becoming the master though he had had some quality time with the swordsmanship and also mace which is always tucked high into his belt hanging down his left side to the belt just for show off. In short, he has some skill with the blade as well as mace though not with any other sort of weapon told above.

Appearance: Kungar is at average height for a human adult around 5'7" tall. He is slim though not as in light as a feather. In addition, his arms is thicker, has packed on some meat through years. However, that does not make him fairly strong either. Kungar has a brown eyes laced with the eyebrows, of which has exactly the same colour. His hair is abundant but short, reaching down denser enough to cover the back of his both ears. His skin is light and fair as if he is some kind of mirror that reflects off the sunlight when it touched upon his skin.

Personality: Kungar even though has all the beauty and charm, he cannot be honored as being a boy scout and also not a bad guy who lives on robbing the residents of town blind to the extent that people had nothing to give. However, his mind is easy to take under control. He usually believes in anything that inquisitors tell him since Kurgan sees them as a noble at heart and expert at what they do so he never questions.

History: (Do not know yet)

(Is this person okay? Artemis)

Yay bios! :) And yes, Faramir, your character sounds great. I'm especially glad that now we have someone on the dark side as well. I'm gonna wait and see if anymore people decide to join before I start.
