[[OOC: I'm bumping this, and speeding us a little into the future. Hey, the Doctor's a time traveller, after all. It's now approximately eleven and a half minutes in the future - but who can say for certain? :P]]

Sonic screwdriver abuzz, the Doctor danced around the field, close enough to everybody that he could keep an eye on everyone at once, far enough away that he'd get warning if one of them got it into their heads to come and talk to him. He had quite enough going through his head at the minute, thank you very much, without answering questions that mostly consisted of “So this really is a time machine?”

There were some odd characters in this lot. He couldn't say he'd met quite as strange a bunch anywhere - except maybe in Cardiff, Earth, in the sixties.

“Oh, those were wild times,” he murmured to himself with an avid expression while his sole piece of equipment buzzed in the background.

There was something about the dark, towering city skyline that was intimidating - sort of. Nah - come to think of it, the Doctor thought to himself, that kind of effect could be achieved with the right kind of lighting. He was suddenly almost kind of certain that the TARDIS had tried a similar effect once; he was equally almost kinda certain that it, too, had been a bit creepy.

As for his plan of action, he had none. That was the best way to be: it made everything sound so much cooler when you waltzed out of a building and said “Yes, I just saved the world - again - with nothing but a bow-tie and a screwdriver.” Yep, that was the Doctor: erratic, slightly strange and only a little modest.

Of all the things he'd seen, of all the things he'd done, there was usually very little that surprised him.

Then he arrived on a world at the other end of the Universe to the side he usually perused, found he couldn't get off said planet and stepped outside to find a huge weather anomaly hovering over an equally odd city inhabited by people who thought normal came in a nice, labelled box. The Doctor sniffed absently, drawing himself up but lowering the arm that had, for the past ten minutes, been holding his screwdriver aloft. The small contraption stopped buzzing and its light went out, leaving the world slightly less familiar to the Doctor.

Still, that's the fun, he reminded himself. He'd spent years twiddling knobs and dials and hoping for the best, and what's the worst that had happened?

Well, he'd gotten attacked by Daleks, locked in a museum, almost eaten by a werewolf, nearly incinerated by Big Brother...

“... Well, okay, let's not think about that,” he told himself slowly and deliberately. It doesn't do to speculate about the future, even if you're a Time Lord. The idea is to go out and cause some trouble.

The Doctor smiled subconsciously. He was good at causing trouble.

Ed had been typing away at her laptop ever since Ein had brought her the wires. She knew the dog was smart, he was a data dog after all. THats what Jet had told her, but did that mean Ein was smart enough to know where they were? Sighing she closed the laptop. Put it away, and went to the man who called himself the Doctor. "Need help?"
