Padme stepped back but put an hand on his shoulder, mostly to keep him from advancing. She tried to find the connection the force had made between them. She was no Jedi, but she managed to find one last thread. "I can't believe what I'm hearing. Anakin, I don't want your power or your protection. All I want is Anakin, my husband who I love."

He stepped towards her as she stepped away. He shook his head from side to side, then looked back into her worried eyes. "Love won't save you Padme! Only my new powers can do that!" He was focused on her deeply.

She let her frusteration out a little more. "No! Anakin, we must get away. Think of our children. Palpatine is a sith! He's tried to kill you, he's tried to kill Obi-Wan, he killed Dooku, his own apprentice. He's tried to kill me! We've got to get away." She grabbed his shoulders, begging him to understand. Tears started to trickle down her face.

(Ha ha! Think of our children..Padme doesn't know she has twins in her. Ha ha! Sorry, just had to laugh.)
Anakin grabbed her hands and pushed them off him him. He was becoming more aggressive. "The chancellor is not a bad man Padme! He's befriended me, watched out for me ever since he met me! Don't speak that way about him!" His voice grew stronger towards her.

Padme started to cry. What had happened to Anakin; the wise, young, sensative jedi and husband? "I don't believe what I'm hearing." She wanted to blink and just say it was a nightmare. "Obi-Wan was right. You've changed."
