"You have no proof of that, McCloud!" shouted General Pepper in the briefing room, shaking his fist.

"Oh, don't I?" retorted Fox McCloud coldly, slamming his own fist down on the metal table. "Come on! The Aparoids were the worst thing-"

"You can say that again," muttered Peppy Hare from his chair, who was fiddling with something in the pocket of his own long overcoat.

"No," said General Pepper firmly now, raising his fist. "Andross is still a bigger enemy..after all this...the evidance the Squad brought in, Fox, look at it!! He's still alive, the Aparoids aren't!"

"We can't be sure of that," said Fox, grunting in anger and frustration.

"Dismissed," said General Pepper curtly. "Before I chuck the both of you-" he pointed at Fox and Peppy, "-in jail."

The fox and hare glanced at each other, but grunted and got up, leaving the briefing room.

TWO YEARS LATER, Stardare: 2553.5


Fox McCloud watched stars whiz by the window as he sat in his chair on the bridge of his famed flagship, the Great Fox. They were in Sector 05, the last known area of Star Wolf's old base, the Sargasso Station. It was rumoured that Andross was last reported seen in this strange floating station, and the disappearance of Star Wolf was in question.

Fox and his legendary StarFox Team had been assigned the job of finding their arch enemies, as well as ridding the Lylat System of Lord Andross for good. The job, as Fox and Peppy had expected, was dull - the trip from Corneria to Sargasso was long and boring, months stuffed up inside the flagship with nothing to do but practice in a Holodeck.

"At this rate, we'll be at Sargasso in four days," Peppy Hare reported from his commander's chair at the helm of the bridge. Peppy was StarFox's eldest member, who was also part of the original StarFox, consiting of himself, Pigma Dengar, and Fox's father, James McCloud. James had lost his life in a rebellion from Pigma several years after Fox's birth, and Peppy had only just escaped with his own - the hare had been put into emergency treatment the second his escape pod hit solid ground.

Two other members of the team, Slippy Toad and Falco Lombardi, had met Fox in the CAA, the Cornerian Army Academy. Fox had been their Squad leader in the Academy, and since those good old carefree days, the trio had remained together. Throughout most of his childhood life, Fox had lived with Peppy in his old home on Corneria, since the death of both mother and father made him an orphan. Peppy had been titled Fox's godfather at birth.

Now, as they sat on the bridge together, their bond was at its peek. The arguement with General Pepper a few weeks ago had only increased their trust and respect for each other - as well as the success of this mission would rely on Fox's leadership, Peppy's knowledge, Falco's skill, and Slippy's inventions. It was a team effort...and they all knew it.

Krystal was silently sitting in a chair, writing something down in a book. She wasn't too far away from the rest of the team, but something felt....odd, like she was all alone on the Great Fox. She felt so new here...she knew she was, but Fox had told her not to worry, the rest of the team likes you. She still worried if what he said was true.

Shivering, she walked into the next room, finding Slippy, one of the younger members of the crew. "Hi, Slip!" she said friendily, walking up to him. "What're you doing?" "Just fixing up something for ROB." Slippy replied. Krystal nodded. "Do you need any help?" "Not currently, but thanks."

Krystal smiled and nodded, walking into the next room. This ship certainly is large, she thought. She looked over at Peppy and Fox and smiled. "Hi." she said.

Fox whipped around at the sound of Krystal's voice, smiling. "Hello," he greeted her kindly, pulling himself up and off the chair. At his station, Peppy only smirked, continuing to punch in their new destination cordinates.

"How are you?" Fox asked as he made his way to Krystal's side.

She smiled at Fox. "Good, and you?" she said, looking at Peppy slightly.

"Fairing," Fox chuckled lightly, turning his gaze to the window of the bridge, smiling. "We're en-route to Fortuna..a group of Cornerian rebels have been reported vandalizing the climate control center."

Peppy nodded at Fox's words, and the ship roared as it sped up to maximum velocity.

Krystal blinked,watching stars zoom past the ship. "Fortuna?" she repeated, half to herself, half to Fox.

The StarFox leader nodded. "Yes, Fortuna," he repeated. "Near Corneria. Right off Sauria, port of 70 degrees...icey place."

"Ah..."she replied, feeling distant. She wondered if anyone could notice. Truly, she didn't like the sound of this place...

"Are you..alright?" he asked, suddenly aware of Krystal's awkwardness.

Peppy turned around at hearing these words, concern written all over his face.

She blinked, quickly snapping out of the trance. "Yes, I'm fine...." she said, managing to smile.

Fox, though he said nothing more, could see straight through her disguise. He had always known that she would feel outcasted aboard the Great Fox...it was very different from the kind of life expected on Sauria. He could understand her "pain"...

"Is there anything I can get you?" he offered.

"No, could you just tell me where I could get a glass of water though?" she asked, trying not to sound rude.

"Replicator!" he called to a large black machine in the corner. "Water!"

A cup of water appeared on the counter next to Krystal. Fox smiled at her.

Krystal blinked and looked at Fox, grinning. "That's diffrent." she said, laughing. She picked up the glass and took a sip. "Thanks." she said, smiling.

He sat in his bridges chair, putting together different clues to try to find out where andross would be, and one his officers said "Sir, the Great Fox is in range" The Captain Replied, "Contact them immediately".

Peppy blinked as a signal came from a cloaked ship in the distance. The elderly hare clicked a button on his PDA, and said, "Fox to the bridge!"

His eyebrow raised, Fox said "One moment" to Krystal, then darted to the turbolift, waiting impaitently as it shot upwards. When the doors opened on the command deck, he launched into his chair just as the COMlink started recording.

"Fox McCloud, leader of the StarFox team," he said.
