Melody slipped away from the crowded railing and went to her bunk. She tucked her trunk neatly under the bed, and pulled out sheets and pillows. While the others waved farewell to loved ones, she made her bed and tidied her area. After all, she had no loved ones to wave farewell to. |

Harmony went back to her room, where she fed her cat and unpacked her bags. Later she changed and went to dinner. As she ate she sat on her own watching people do what would be soon to be part of their daily routines. |

Harmony sat and watched one person in particular as they entered. he was a male and was on his own, he sat down at a table on his own but made no motion to order food or to go up and get it. She sat and watched him slyingly for awhile untill he caught her watching |

Aaron turned his his head to face a beautiful young lady with curly red hair after a while he relised that they where both staring at eachther, he quickly smiled at her. |

Melody shook her head. What would feeling sorry for herself do? She headed up to the dining hall and sat down, morose once more. Just once, she found herself thinking that talking to a man wouldn't be so bad...no. Men were like her father. They hit, they abused. It was better for her to be a spinster, to live her life without love. If she never loved, she'd never lose, and she could never be hurt again. Do you really think that? a small voice within her asked. Do you? |

Harmony blushed slightly as they guy smiled at her, she smiled back quickly then stood up and walked out briskly. |

Harmony walked out onto the deck the fresh sea air hitting her face giving her cheeks a automatic rosey glow. She mpved slowly to the side of the ship humming an old song from her home land, the song was slow and mournfull, it was about war and conflict. Slowly she wrapped her fingers round the barrier and stepped up, her rusty red hair flying as the wind caught it, and yet she carried on humming the tune, she then slowly swun her leg over and then the other and started to sing the words of the song, slowly the tears welling up in her eyes. Now the music's gone but they carry on For their spirit's been bruised, never broken Oh, they'll not forget still their hearts are set On tomorrow and peace once again Now what's done is done and what's won is won And what's lost is lost and gone forever I can only pray for a bright brand new day In the town I loved so well. She finished and closed her eyes sending a tear rolling down her cheek, she opened them again and looked out across the ocean, then up into the heavens. "Why?" she whispered |

Melody sighed as she returned to the third-class deck. Her old life was over now. She could start over, and no one would no about her father, or about the other thing, the bad thing. A smile spread across her mouth, and her whole face brightened. Someone cleared a space, and a party began on the deck. Melody laughed, and joined several musicians. She could help with music, even if she couldn't find anyone to dance with. That was okay. She'd survive anyway. There's a longing in my heart For freedom, sweet freedom And I'm leaving I'm not turning back Until I reach my goal I'm a fighter, I'm prepared I'll go every inch of the way 'Cause I'm going to be free. she sang. The crowd danced, and danced, and Melody was pulled in. She found a small space still open, and started dancing, throwing in all the fanciest steps she knew. Her feet flew in an invisible pattern, and Melody was happier than she'd ever been before. |

Aaron ran outside to get some fresh air but spoted the women he saw inside leaning off the side of the boat and ran up to her. "Ma'm if i were you i wouldnt do it, freezing down there!" He said politly "I'm not looking forward to jumping in after you. But like I said, I don't see a choice. I guess I'm kinda hoping you'll come back over the ledge and get me off the hook here." (heehee) |

Harmony smiled and opened her eyes but she didn't turn round "I wasn't going to jump" she told him calmly "Just enjoying the view, i have a thing about the stars" she turned round and smiled, he held out his hand to her and she took it graciously as she climbed slowly back over the rail, careful where she was treading. |
