Gods above and below..

Dante's translucent eyes scanned the place listlessly, utterly void of emotion--simply open and zombie-like, his long dark lashes seeming to shade the hue of his optics.

Ah, the carnage.

The ground was stained black from burnt timbers..among other things; huts were charred and levelled, all human remain gone, save for the ash and occasional prick of bone that jutted out from beneath the rubble.

And oh how the air choked itself with the stench.

It was jarring, even to Dante who had become quite accustomed to such familiar scents--what with his lifestyle.

A village perhaps. Then again it was incredibly small, it could have been a nomadic family..a gypsy group of sorts. There was no telling now, not that it mattered.

'Twas simply the scent itself which had lured Dante there. He was such a capricious character, that devil. He made a mental note to go on a diet of sorts. Perhaps he was merely dissatisfied with the taste of mortal flesh, whatever the cause was, he followed by it. Hunger was a thing that could not touch him. Bloodlust? That was different.

While knowing that he wouldn't be getting a meal out of whatever was left here, (half despaired by that fact, half joyed,) he simply remained in that sect of the woods for the sake of sheer curiousity.

Head bent slightly as he observed the ground upon which he walked, dark indigo tresses tumbled into his eyes, brushing against the smooth contours of his face. Despite his massive build, he appeared more gaunt-looking than ever. 'Course his appearance was more affected by his mood than his health, anyways.

Dante's nostrils flared a fraction as he inhaled deeply, tilting his head toward the sky, closing his eyes.

What a smell.

Blood.

It was everywhere, tainting the skies, staining the earth. Blood... smoke... blood...

Death.

A single scaled, taloned hand flexed on the hilt of a jeweled sabre. Azure and gold robes billowed out in the stinking wind. Slitted crimson eyes narrowed as they regarded the scene before them.

Yrudit Vs'axeral was hungry.

On the road from the city, assassins had caught him in the forest. He'd been on the run ever since. He had no idea who was trying to kill him or why.

All he knew at that moment was hunger.

His primal instincts, the instincts of the lizardman, jolted him to predatory vigilance. It was the blood, the bodies. The meat... No! I've chosen a life of civilization, of light. I musn't... He should have followed his intuition and stayed clear of this place. Covering his snout, he deliberately turned away. He deliberately reined his bestial urgings back in.

That was when he caught sight of a figure among the ruins of the village.

Name: Jocelyn Hawkins
Gender: Female
Race: Vampire
Age: 17 when sired

History: can be found here...

-----------------------------

Jocelyn tied her deep burgundy hair back with a black thong as she walked through the forests. Her footsteps soft upon the grass as she navigated her way through the night, piercing green eyes trained on the puff of smoke and ash in the distance.

She was walking along the path when her keen senses picked up the scent of death, tradegy, and blood... The tip of her tongue swiped across her ruby lips at the thought of feeding once more, it wasn't often that she fed upon the dead but it had been quite some time since her last.

Jocelyn shrugged her shoulders as she continued to walk through the thinning forest, getting closer to the rubble of a recently burnt city.

Tilting her head to the night sky, she felt a small shiver run through her pale body when her ears picked up the faint sound of another.

Dante exhaled, a soft moan escaping from his throat as he released that long-held scent of death. Why had he been refusing it of late? What was the original purpose, if not to test himself out of sheer boredom?

His iridescent blue eyes fluttered open in response to the sound of another presence, maybe more. There. A creature staring back at him a few yards away.

He pivoted, turning towards this strange scaled creature, and stepped forward into a shaft of moonlight that fanned through the trees. The light shone brilliantly against his bare skinned torso, reflecting off the dark tattoos against his pale blue skin and luminating his lustrous indigo hair.
A snarl seemed to twist his sculpted lips as he fixed a calculating stare on the creature.

He stood as calm and as still as a breathing statue, dark lidded eyes narrowing a fraction in curiousity. Then just as animatedly as it had come, the snarl disappeared, fading from his lips. His eyes blinked once, perhaps twice before all the fixed signs of curiousity had been drained from his demonic visage.

And then it came.

A loud erupting laughter from the bowels of his throat, slicing through the trees with a metallic resonance. He seemed as if he would go on into a hysteric of laughter, peeling over in spite of himself, but the gutteral sound subsided, and he chuckled soundlessly.

Dante's ivory canines glittered in the light as his smile shone, a contagious and almost insane smile.

" G'mornin', friend."

[Just for clarification, it is night, he just says "mornin'" all the time. >.>]

Jocelyn gasped gently when her glittering green eyes not only saw one being but two, both as different as day and night. Her curiosity peaked, she moved closer to the pair as silently as she could. Dress of red and black glided along the grass as she hid behind a tree trying to learn more about the strangers.

One had scales and robes of gold and blue, while the other was pale with unique tattoos upon his body and a smile that was both wicked yet contagious, she could not help but return the smile.

Her long pale fingers moved across the trees bark as she tilted her head trying to find a good position to see them both without being seen herself.

Bodies bodies and more bodies

Thought Xarw as he entered the ruined village looking just out of pure interest, he might as well look trough the corpses for some items or just to steal their organs for some rituals. It was a messy stuff, but what could you do when your demon masters require a heart that you can summon something to your aid?

Xarw kneeled over a body of a big man, the man had a wound in his chest and would be a start for Xarw whom drew his dagger out with slightly disgusted face as he began to work.

If Yrudit had any eyebrows, he would have raised them. The moonlight gave the man - if he was a man - an ethereal sense. Otherworldly.

He was being watched.

He involuntarily gave ground for two unadmitted reasons. The first, the blood was tantalizing him to the point of insanity. The second was two notches less impractical. He felt a faint sense of unease. He heard a noise behind him and spun, his sabre already half out of its jeweled sheath. The assassins again, he was certain -

A figure, shrouded in mist, knelt over a body some distance away amidst the village.

[I'm leaving for two weeks, it's possible I may be able to put in a post here and there, but I wouldn't rely on it. Just go on without me and I'll suffer the consequences by catching up. Sorry to inconvenience you.]
