Set in the Marauder's Era, during the 6th year of Sirius, James, Remus, and Peter. Just after Halloween, it was announced that there was to be a Winter Ball for all 5th year students and above, set just a week before Christmas time. There was also a Hogsmeade trip planned for that same time period, which meant all the students staying at Hogwarts for the holidays were going to have a pretty full schedule. This follows what goes on during that winter, when new friendships are made, new couples are formed, and even new rivalries are formed..you don't need a bio if you are joining as one of the characters on the first list, though you do need one if you join as an OC.

Finishing up the last little bit of her History of Magic essay, Rachel set her quill aside with a soft sigh of relief. Taking off her glasses for a moment and cleaning them on the edge of her robe, she then slipped them back on and glanced about the dormitory, realizing she was alone. The girls she shared this dorm with had already gone down to dinner, or so it seemed. Standing, she decided to do the same thing and headed downstairs, into the common room. As she passed the notice board, for the second time that day, she took note of the announcement telling about the Winter Ball that was to be held the week before Christmas.

Just another way for me to possibly embaress myself.. she thought with a sigh, before walking past the notice board, then out of the Gryffindor common room through the portrait hole. From there, it took her about five minutes to get down to the Great Hall, where the strains of conversation echoed out into the hallway as she approached. Ignoring this pointedly, once inside the Hall itself, she went directly to the Gryffindor table and sat down in one of the few free places she was able to find.
