I really need some basic points to keep my FanFictions character from going Mary-Sue on me. Any Suggestions because I really need them!!!!!!
O.o to . . . . . many. . . . .bad. . . . . . legolas. . . . . .ooc. . . . . . . mary. . . . . SUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really don't want my character to end up like them. Please HELP ME!!!!!

I tend to have the same problem. It's a very hard habit to break but here are some suggestions -
-Come up with a hardened character--don't make her seem so weak and helpless -Try not to get into situations where the girl is hurt and needs Legolas's help or vice versa (that's usually how Mary Sues are started) -Just have her be his friend (this is the hardest of all) -The one That I found have works best is having two stories, one with a mary sue and the other without one. When you want to write mary sues, go on the one with her in it. This should fulfill your need and write the other one when you are mad or just not crushing.
I hope some of those help. The last one really helps me and I've actually managed to keep some of them anti-mary sue!

Thanks Alot!!! :):):):) It's extra hard for me becauses I write romance, gotta kill off all mary sue writing habits, I must admit that it fun to write them sometimes. *smirk* i would know I wroten my fair share of sues but they've all ended up in trash can.

Its okay. You can work through this. Give her a flaw. YES! GIVE HER A FLAW! Maybe her leg was injured when she was a child, and know she cannot use it well, and she is resentful becuase of it. She could be afraid of the dark. Or perhaps she has super bad PMS. Just give her a flaw. It will help so much. In fact, give her as many flaws as yo can bear. It makes writing a non mary sue so much easier.

I must admit that she is based on me but only losely. She has many flaws, she was attacked by a cougar when she was younger and has 3 large scars acrosss her face over one eye making her eye sight bad, she also has freckles it seem that no fic characters have them.
