Post subject:  Merfolk, Selkies & Finfolk RP
I've been really interested in creating an RP that was based on characters that are underwater mythical creatures. These include merfolk, sea nymphs, selkies, and finfolk...and the storyline would have it's origin in a Celtic myth often called Prince Ruad and the Mermaids. In a nut shell, a human prince is accosted by several mermaids while voyaging across the sea and one of them ends up bearing his child after he has stayed with them for a few months under the sea.

In the real myth, he escapes against the mermaid's wishes and as revenge the mermaids kill the child. In my RP though, this child will live and grow up, and he will most likely act as the primary character. Other characters will be this child's family and other types of creatures like the ones mentioned above. Each race of creatures has their own customs and personalities.

So, just tell me if you'd be interested at all, and if you have any more ideas for the storyline. Thanks!! :]

Absolutely. :]

    Merfolk (Merrows):

    - Each has their own individual personality, but for the most part they are helpful and kind towards humans.
    - They are usually friendly and are slow to anger, but their ire can be aroused by persons who desecrate and pollute their home.
    - Occasionally Mermaids wish to take human mates, but Mermen rarely take human brides.


    Selkies:

    - They can transform themselves from seals to humans.
    - Can revert to seal form by putting their selkie skin back on.
    - Male selkies are very handsome in their human form, and have great seduction powers over human women.
    - If a man steals a female selkie's skin, she is in his power, to an extent, and she is forced to become his wife

    Finfolk:

    - Neither romantic or friendly, unlike the usual mermaid/man.
    - To capture the unsuspecting human bride or groom, the Finfolk cunningly disguise themselves and their fins as other sea animals, plants or even as floating clothes. The Finfolk kidnapping attempt begins by approaching the prospective mate cautiously, floating ever closer, until it is possible to leap up and grab the victim.


Also, as a quick note...I'd like this to have a bit of a romantic plotline as well.

Sea Nymphs (Nereids):

- Care-free and oftentimes rather flirty with human men.
- Described as being "Beautiful women of nature".
- While disliking responsibilities, they are nurturing and occasionally helpful towards humans.
