*sigh*
I have read FotR 23 times since May 2001.
However, I do not have all the poems memorized yet. Only the smaller ones.
I have also read the Silmarillion around 10 times, and the Unfinished Tales around 5 times. I'm on my 23rd time through TTT, and then I'm moving on to RotK for the 23rd time.

I started reading the Hobbit at age 6 and must now start to know this one out of my head... Lord of the Rings i just re-read together with the Reader's Companion by Wayne Hammond and Christina Scull. How many time i read the book i cannot recall. In 1996 i stopped counting at 35 times.
the Silmarillion must be around 22 times, yet never counted...
i'm always reading something. Today i was reading in the silmarillion (now at the downfall of the Noldor).

Hmm. Forme, that's a tough question. My parents used to read it to me as a bed-time story from the ageof five, and then when I was old enough, I began reading it for myself. And as I am now nearly 21, I'm afraid I can only estimate....but I caan assure you it is over 80 times. I had to buy a new book a few years back - my old one was so dogeared, I'd read it so much!! That actually goes for the entire three books, not just FOTR.

I'm not being sarcastic about this but, I've read it over one hundred times. I don't know exactly how many, but I know that It is a lot.

I've lost count. My paperback copy is in so many pieces that it's almost imposible to keep together

I think I've read it about three times. Not so sure. I dip into it from time to time. Honestly, I don't just devour the Lord of the Rings, and read it like a million times. It's a big book, and not a 'casual' read. I've read the Hobbit a lot more since it's shorter. The Sil just once.

I've only read it once. it's sooo long and the story is sooo long and it stretches.
