Galadriel is a hard character to place. She's been around for so long and she's so powerful and wise that she's scary in a way.
Boromir had heard that she was a witch and he was scared to enter Lothlorien because to humans Galadriel seems evil cause she's so 'all-knowing'. She can see past what you say and can see into your mind which is creepy, but in the end you realize that she's not evil at all. She just knows more than humans like anyone to know.

Exactly. Outside of Lorien, mortals have gotten the impression that she is sort of like a witch or sorcerss and that makes them fear her and also leads to the conclusion of her being evil. But in truth, I would be pretty creeped out if she could see into my head and could know what exactly every word I said could result too. Creepy, but cool.

Yes, I agree, I would feel like my privacy was being invaded or something. But, it doesn't really matter I guess. She'll find it all out anyway lol.

Galadriel rocks! she's my favorite elf, probably because she looks a lot like me And also because she's telepathic and creepy and just so cool.

I'm fascinated by the character of Galadriel. I can't remember a first impression of her, because after reading the books, The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales I can understand why she is the way she is and her background and everything. She's such a fascinating character!

I haven't read Unfinished Tales yet but I'm going to and I'm most looking forward to reading the stuff about her. I'd be creeped out too. But luckily it's not my mind that she's looking into and therefore it's cool 8)

^that is one of the best evaluations of Galadriel I've ever read. Yes, she is a lot like that, and she has been around for a really long time, especially compared to the others. Her enormous wisdom and power contributes to the false idea that she may be evil, and thus creepy and scary, subject to fright. Though she's really not like that at all. She knows so much - it's beyond so many people's ideas, and because she's so different, people find her creepy, as you say, although she has vast wisdom beyond our deepest beliefs.

I do hope you get the chance! It's very interesting.
Yeah! It says alot but briefly and that's what's needed in a good evaluation.

call me crazy, but doesn't her ring give her the power to look into people's minds?
And I do think it is an envasion of privacy to go through someone's thoughts, but she had good entensions, she wanted to test them against the power of the ring.

Yes, I think it was her ring that gave her power. And I don't think it was quite looking into their minds, she was more looking into their eyes to see what their hearts held and she made it appear as if she could offer them what they wanted which would involve them having to leave the fellowship so that's were the whole testing part comes in. But she does in a way divine their thought.

I've always admired Galadriel's character for being so strong. She passed the test, and she didn't leave middle earth until the last possible moment. She helped the 9 on their quest and therefore deserves the title of Hero. In a world dominated by men she held her own, and kept pushing for a better world. She is indeed a woman to be admired, even if she was created.....and by a man at that! Good Job Tolkien!

I read the book before I saw the movie. But when I read about her in the book, I thought she was totally awesome.
I think Cate Blanchet did a really good job

yeah, Cate did an awesome job of playing Galadriel. I think she was one of the best interperations from book to movie. Though some parts cold have been better.
