About Frodo not becoming possesed like Gollum was. I agree with what you guys said, but is it also because he didnt have it for that long? Gollum had it for a very long time. Do you think that is Frodo had it for many years he would have eventually turned into something similar like Gollum. Then again Bilbo had it for awhile, but nothing really happened to him... :)

I think Rings tell us of power.. and they're nice.. and round.. and perfect. I also think there are many old tales and stories and myths where rings are included. . though none of them are anywhere near equal to LotR :)

No I think it's importand to question everything in life. I suppose a ring was small and easy to look after. It could have been a necklace I suppose, but I think the only way to take a ring from someone is to either cut their finger off or hold them down and take it off.

Also, a ring is easier to hide than a necklace or something like that, and necklaces are more... feminin. The other Rings of Power weren't made especially for either a woman or a man, so I guess they wanted them to be things that either one could... relate to. Imagine Frodo walking around with a huge necklace on... :P

interesting indeed. and a necklace doesn't seem that great or valuable, it could be tin or something like that! but a big round, heavy, golden ring is something really different :D
