I know they are mentioned alot here (esp. in the Council of Elrond,) but who are they? I'm thinking its the Valar. |

Actually the wise are not the Valar but the members of the "White Council" I think. These are e.g. Gandalf, Galadriel, Elrond and Saruman. |

eruhin is right ... the wise aren't the valar...besides the valar didn't care about middle-earth since the great battle in alqualonde. |
