Thanks for explaining everyone! I understand that Sauron wanted to intimidate his enemies, but why give them a chance to run away? Why not summon a Wyrm to pop out of the ground, gobble up Frodo, swallow the ring, and hurry back to Mordor??! (Again, just a crazy, random thought..)[/list]

and why do bond villains always feel like explaining their plans to Bond so he has time to get out of them? quirk of life
just a writing thing I suppose, LOTR wouldnt be half as fun as if frodo was eaten, end of story would it lol!

A not so nice thought is that even though the ring dominated all of Sauron's thoughts is that he also wanted Frodo alive, so he could "punish" him for not returning the ring.

I guess the heart could be hit from the back, but it wouldn't be as easy if Frodo was wearing a backpack & cloak and they might accidently hit a rib instead. Shame on you, Princess of Ithillien! (:P)
If Frodo was eaten, we wouldn't all have been here, would we? As in, on a-u.com. Because there wouldn't have been an a-u.com!
As tons of people already have stated before me, the nazgul can't see. not in daylight, anyway. I think Aragorn tells the hobbits this at some point in their journey between Bree and Rivendell...

"Can the Riders see?" asked Merry. "I mean, they seem usually to have used their noses rather than their eyes, smelling for us, if smelling is the right word, at least in the daylight. But you made us lie down flat when you saw them down below; and now you talk of being seen, if we move."
"I was too careless on the hill-top," answered Strider. "I was very anxious to find some sign of Gandalf; but it was a mistake for three of us to go up and stand there so long. For the black horses can see, and the Riders can use men and other creatures as spies, as we found at Bree. They themselves do not see the world of light as we do, but our shapes cast shadows in their minds, which only the noon sun destroys; and in the dark they perceive many signs and forms that are hidden from us: then they are most to be feared. And at all times they smell the blood of living things, desiring and hating it. Senses, too, there are other than sight or smell. We can feel their presence-it troubled our hearts, as soon as we came here, and before we saw them; they feel ours more keenly. Also," he added, and his voice sank to a whisper, " the Ring draws them."
-Fellowship of the Ring, book 1, Chapter XI A Knife in the Dark, page 214(of my copy of the FotR book... I'm not sure if all copies are the same)
That should answer the question "Can the riders see?" That's exactly word for word on that part in the book!

Anytime! If you need something looked up in any of the books up to ch. 3, book II, FotR (the Ring goes South), just contact me and I'll be happy to do it! lol!
Now see, at night the Nazgul might be able to use bows... but I really can't see them with bows. Crossbows, maybe, but not any regular short bow or long bow or compound bow(lol). Maybe even the cool machinegun/crossbow Van Helsing has... now that would fit a Nazgul. But during the day, it would be nearly impossible for a Nazgul to use a bow!

Black Riders don't need Bows. They're powerful beings, The Morgul Blade is enough and I think that it adds authenticity to their race. It's like asking 'why doesn't Leglolas carry an axe?'
(:

They could use bows at night, but then we're back to what others have already stated before me; the main weapon of the nazgul is fright. Although Legolas would be mighty frightening with a bow, the nazgul are more frightening the closer they are, and they would have to get closer with swords or blades than with bows

Defintitley Anameleth
I totally agree. But I also think that RingWraiths are up there in the supreme being status and therefore have no need for bows really.

No really! There would be this huge epic adventure where Frodo has to battle himself out the Wyrm's stomach with Sting--Oh! Or! He could get stuck and have to call Tom Bombadil and Tom would rescue him like he was in a barrow. Or! Or the thing that ate him would have eaten a bunch of other stuff--like his entire hobbit-hole and Frodo would just live in the worm with the ring while the worm traversed underground to Mordor and when they reached Orodruin, the worm would belch everything up and Frodo would chuck the Ring in!
I'm joking, of course.
