I didn't know about Tolkein sending him the manuscripts during WWII though.

I read it in the Humphrey-Carter version of Tolkien's Biography.

It has a lot of other interesting things about Tolkien, I reckonmend reading it.

I think I will. I wanted to read a Tolkien bio but I didn't know which one to read. Thanx for the recommendation :)

Er - may I ask where did you get the Tolkien bio? Other than LotR, The Hobbit, and The Sil, I can't find much other works of his, let alone ones about him. :bye2:

You're not the first person to complain about The Council of Elrond being a way too long chapter in FotR - and how they kept talking and talking and talking - I got pretty tired of it too. :bye2:

The Council of Elrond is one of my favorite chapters  I don't find it boring at all but a lot of people do. The bits of the book that I find boring are the long descriptions of of this and that when they're travelling. I like to read people talking :goofy:

I didn't mind the Counil of Elrond either. People talking is not boring to me. I found the passage where Tolkien wrote about all the gifts from Galadriel a bit to long. Nothing really happened.
I don't know what chapter is my favorite, I guess all of them :)

I love all the chapters of FoTR but my favorite are the Council of Elrond and the ones that describe the Breaking of the Fellowship on Amon Hen and Parth Galen. These are amazing chapters for me. I learned a lot while reading the Council of Elrond and the emotions I feel when I reading another time the Breaking of the Fellowship are really beautiful. It's a very sensitive chapter with full of themes like frienship, love, courage = the theme of the Fellowship of the Ring and I love it like it is.

Oh - well - er - The Council of Elrond may be seen as a good chapter probably because it explains about everything and really clarifies about the mission and such. But for those people who are really impatient with literature sometimes ( Hence - (*cough*) - me) may find it not so great. :bye2:

Ohh you don't have to be shy about that ;) Everyone have their own favorite chapters. Of course, sometime some parts of the writings of Tolkien are seems kinda long but some peoples don't care about that (*cough*-er-me..)
