I like most songs by Tom Bombadil, they are full of life and energy! I feel the strenght and happiness in them and I want to dance all around the table ^^ But the song by Bilbo sang in Rivendell, about Earendil, is very beautiful and poetic. I like it too. Which is yours? |

Beren and Luthien, I love that tale. Its beautiful yet sad at the same time. I also like Sam's song about the troll, its just a fun, nonsense song, and Bilbo's poem about Earendil, that one is also good. |

It may sound strange for Tolkien fan but I was never into Beren and Luthien. Maybe a bit but this song is my least liked in the FotR. Yes! The Sam's song is very funny and I liked that Sam made it by himself |

I know, a chance to let Sam shine a bit early on, even though it was just makin up a song. He's such a creative hobbit, with the way he likes to make up songs, poems, and stories, and he likes to 'create' beauty by gardening, and caring for the flowers and other plants. Your not strange, everyone has a particular song that speaks to them more so than others. Just because you're a Tolkien fan doesnt mean you have to like Beren and Luthien. But you do have to like Bilbo's poem about the road going ever on! |

Hah, yes, that's true! I love Bilbo's poem. I have read it in two Polish translations and both were great. Its funny how English poem change when two people translate it Can you throw the English version for me? ^^ |

Alright, here goes: Roads go ever on and on, Over rock and under tree, By caves where never sun has shone, By streams that never find the sea; Over snow by winter sown, And through the merry flowers of June, Over grass and over stone, And under mountains in the moon. Roads go ever on Under cloud and under star, Yet feet that wandering have gone Turn at last to home afar. Eyes that fire and sword have seen And horror in the hills of stone Loot at last on meadows green And trees and hills they long have known. |

I don't know if I am translating it right but something about eager feets, the road becoming wider and wider, the streams of roads that goes in one and such. |

I like "Upon the Harth" . You can just see everything mentioned and it's so lyrical. I also like the poem Sam quotes while on Weathertop, the one about Gil-galad and the one Legolas sings about Nimrodel. As you can see it is really really hard for me to pick out a "favorite" of anything. |

Dont worry, its hard for me to pick a favorite too! Those are all good choices. I wish Gimli would have sung a song about dwarf women! |

and of course, he would have to talk about the beards, since Aragorn so kindly brought that up! |
