But don't you rather think that it would be difficult task to show everything that were connected to Tom? The actor would have hard candy to bite!

Very true. It would be very difficult, I think, to capture Tom right, because no one really knows what or who Tom is. There's guesses and speculation, and all you know is he's old, some sort of ancient Master. so perhaps its a good thing that they left him out of the movie. still disappointin, but probably for the best.

Yes, because probably, if they would've put him in the movie everyone would've got something bad to say about that, because no one imagines him the same.

I remember when i first read the book, tom and goldberry seemed to me like the strangest characters, especially when tom put the ring on and didn't disappear. I agree with Lithôniel, maybe they were a mystery even to Tolkien.

I think Tolkien knew who he is but wanted to leave this mystery for the readers ;)

When I first read the book, I was amazed by how happy they actually was! They almost always sang and had great time.
