I voted for Aragorn too because he's just born to do the job! (I'm happy that being a king is hereditary, I wouldn't like Gollum as a king! ;) )

Well, Frodo is my favorite character, but I don't think he's quite the kingly type. Aragorn definitel makes a great king, he was born for the job. But oddly enough, I think Samwise Gamgee would make the best king. He would be a kind and compassionate ruler, but fierce, protective, and just as well. Yes. Sam would make the best King. I do love Sam. :)

Arwen? Eowyn?Rosie??Thoughts people!

For Queen... Galadriel all ready IS queen, so that doesn't count
So then... hmm... So then Eowyn. She's strong, and cool and has leader ship skills 8)

I think Arwen made a good Queen, but I like Eowyn for a queen even better. She wouldn't be one of those queens who just sat on her throne while her people were in danger. She'd get out there and fight right next to them and defend them. I think she'd make an awesome queen.

LOL. You're right. I woudln't want Gollum for a King either. not even when he was Smeagol, because even then, he was capable of killing one of his closest friends (cousins?).
I think we all agree that Gollum/Smeagol would not make a very good king. :)

I think one of the points of the story of LotR is that as long there is life no one is beyond hope. But I think also that no one is beyond treachery and horible deeds. Aragorn, Gandolf and Galadriel were capable and even more susceptable to horrible deeds of evil than Smeigel was because of their position. Sauraman's example is a vivid portrayal of a shocking and worse betrayal. Certainly, in history, even the most common and unimportant have become great kings. King David, one of the greatest historical kings of the Jews, started out as only a shepherd boy. Unless you want an evil king, it is his bad choices (Just like the poor choices of many men, wizards, valor, and elves) that disqualify Smeigel from being king.

Aragorn definatly, he was born for it and it couldn't have been any of the elves because they were leading Arda. About Arwen... I don't have the books on me (they've been in storage for the past two years :annoyed2:) and I can't remember anything off by heart. I quite like the bit in the movie where she sees Eldarion though... it's quite sweet seeing Aragorn with his kid :-D

Aragorn, of course

Arwen: I'd rather spend one lifetime with you, then face all the ages of the world alone.

Gandalf: All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us

Sam:It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for.

Aragorn: Ride out with me. Ride out and meet them.
Theoden: For death and glory.
Aragorn: For Rohan. For your people.
Theoden: The Horn of Helm Hammerhand will sound in the deep, one last time!

Theoden: Fell deeds awake... Now for Wrath... Now for Ruin... and the Red Dawn...

Theoden: I know your face, Eowyn.

Arwen: There is still hope.

:D

I would say Legolas, but he already has a chance to be King of Mirkwood. Besides, Aragorn is supposed to be king.
I think the best queen would be Eowyn. She's so brave and wouldn't just sit on the throne while her people were in danger, she'd go out there and kick some evil butt!
