Well, Gandlaf was sent to Arda in the Third Age 1000 and departed over the Sea in the Third Age 3021 so I guess you could say that Gandlaf was 2021 years old, but I really don't think Gandalf had an age. |

Well, if you read the Silmarillion, you'll discover that Gandalf is actually a Maia, which, if you must, you could call the equivalent of an angel. The Maia were with Illuvatar from before time even began... and they'll exist when time ends. So technically you're right Larael, Gandalf has no age. ![]() (Freebie tidbit: Both Sauron and Saruman are/were Maia also. 8)) |

Well...about killing a Maia... I dont think you actually can destroy him, only his body... Same thing is with Sauron, he is killed a lot of times but he keeps making himself a new body, because his spirit still exists. |

Yes, Gandalf went over the Sea to Valinor, or the Undying Lands. He went with Frodo, Bilbo, Galadriel, Celeborn, Cirdan, and Elrond. No one dies in the Undying Lands, hence the name. |

Didn'e Gandalf say something about 'walking this Earth for 300 lives of Men'? Still, that's hard to calculate, since the life span of Men seems to vary a lot. |

That would be pretty hard to calculate, but tis probably possible to figure it if you have the patience. |

I think it all depends on what Gandalf is. |

Oh, let me at them. i'll tear them limb from limb, draw and quarter them, pull out their entrails and burn them. Give them a fate 1000 times worse than a long slow painful death. Dig thier heart out with a dull hair pin and feed it to the hogs. To the Pain! (for all you Princess Bride people. I know you're out there!) Hide strips of plastic explosives in thier tacos, and when they swallow....Booom! And sooooo much more.......grrrrrr. You see, Gandalf is one of the things you don't want to P.O. there's also Aragorn and the Fangorn Forest, but that's getting off subject. Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't gandalf go across the sea, and to the pretty place where people live forever? Or do people die there too? I SO totally agree with you! ![]() ![]() |

Gandalf can't die. Theoretically, only the rainment he is currently in disperses. Otherwise, he just can't die. |

Yes! I will just click on the smiles to get them to pause in a funny position. I like it that Gandalf can't die. He's a cool character. I was really depressed when I first read that he "died" I was in six grade. I finished the book in a little under two weeks. Everyone was impressed, because it took them longer to read their puny little normal books. But now I look back and think. Wow, it took me a long time to read it. And I'm getting really off topic. Fin. Okay. Gandalf is awesome, and I like it that he can't die. Back on topic. Yea!......and there was much rejoicing. |

Since Gandalf is considered a Maia thus he is immortal and is unable to die until Eru makes his choice. The battle with the Balrog goes to prove in some way that he cannot be beaten. Lets presume Gandalf the Grey's body was shattered and his spirit failed and left that same body. After that He did meet either one of the Vala, or maybe Eru himself and was granted to return in a new form (aka Gandalf the White) for the Istari had been sent as emmiseries from Valinor to watch Middle Earth, and since there was a threat still lingering he had to return. But now we can start pondering where Alatar and Palando had been and what was their task, but unfortunetley all we would say would be speculations ![]() |
