Nice thought, Lonannuniel. I agree with you. I felt like that when I read that...sort of... :).

The new layout reminds me of Lothlorien sort of.. if you understand what I mean. It seems very... ethereal and pretty, just like Lothlorien. Besides, I think I tend to see Lothlorien in fall and winter rather than spring or summer when I think about it. Maybe I don't make any sense. Ah well. :P

I know what you mean, Tinuviel's Tears. I think of Lothlorien in winter and summer, though. I think of blue, white, silver, colours like that when I think of winter, and I think of Lothlorien, too. Lothlorien has often been described with gold, and I think of gold when I think of other colours. So, to me, you make sense, Tinuviel's Tears :).

I can't imagine Lothlorien--well, actually Caras Galadhon with green leaves. Hmm *runs off to photoshop Lothlorien pictures green*

I think of Lothlorien as the peace before the storm, and the physical representation of the elves as a whole. It is beautiful and peaceful, ever-spring-like, I don't know... But I agree, I love Lothlorien. I love Rivendell too, but Rivendell is a city more than the beautiful woodland realm. Did that make any sense? ;)

I think of lothlorien as a beautifull place, but also a bit sad, and quiet, it doesn't seems like a place where you can have a lot of fun with people, but a place for serious talks, reading or walking around.. it probably doesn't make any sence, but the all the grey and white, and time not passing by.. maybe it's the influence of the movies, but it seems a quiet, silent place to me. But i do love it.. it's peacefull, beautifull... and i think i could really spend some time there... I guess i don't make any sence at all, but that's how I feel about it

I agree with both of you, so don't worry, you make sense to me :).

As I experience Lothlorien, I realize that it represents a taste of a place that cannot be fully experienced on this dark earth. It is a place that we all long for--a place of beauty, fullness, perfect relationship and peace. Lothlorien is a reminder of that beauty that we are meant to have but for now is out of reach.

We are all so thirsty for it that we ache. It is hard to bear the sadness and grief of that ache—an aching thirst that leads us on a mad quest to possess it NOW however we can. Every addiction is only an attempt to get rid of that ache. No wonder addiction is rampant in this world.

John Eldredge says in "The Journey of Desire" that "beauty is the closest thing we have to fullness without possessing on this side of eternity...simply to behold a flower is enough; there is nothing that makes me want to consume it".

We need to experience a connection to that beauty often even if we only see glimpses of it in this world. And we need to grieve the absence of its fullness also. Near the end of his book Eldredge says, “Life is loss and I must grieve regularly, so as to give up trying to possess. I will not end up in the golden place until I am home with God.”

So the beauty of Lothlorien is so important for us here. It is a place of hope and sadness. It’s beauty reminds us that the place we all long for is really there—even though we must face the painful thought that we must wait to experience its fullness.

Well said, Sinbearer. It's almost exactly what I think.

Wow :surprise:. Very well said, Sinbearer. That was amazing. I agree with you.

I agree with what Sinbearer said. Exactly. Down to the very last detail. Are you sure we aren't related???? Naw, we couldn't be... I can't think or talk that well...

And we come to end of days
In the dark I hear a call
Calling me there
I will go there
And Back again

I feel the same way, Lady Imidri. I can't right as well as Sinbearer.

Sinbearer, have you ever thought of being in storywriting? You have a very creative mind... :)

You guys are too kind! *blushes* I love thinking and writing about my favorite story but I am really just like you--often amazed at the depth of thought that is expressed on A-U. We all think differently and that is why it is so evigorating to bounce our ideas back and forth and share. I love reading what all of you guys have to say because it really stimulates my thinking. I am glad there are others with the same passion as I.

I feel the same way, Sinbearer. I used to find it hard to find anyone who felt the same way about J.R.R. Tolkien and all his stories the way I did. Now, I know everyone on this website does. It's refreshing to be able to talk about anything related to Tolkien and not sound weird :).
