It all depends when was the last time you saw the movies.

I also get here and there the ghost effects of the actors voices, especially where the lines are the same in the book as in the movies. But when it comes to certain differences, i manage to make my own "voices in my head". But honestly, some of those voices are not so bad at all...

Some thing kinda same happend to me at the first time reading the book.
Don't-imagine/compare-the-movies-to-the-books! It totaly ruins it! Look at illustrations of people in the internet (John whowe ) that helps alot. If you can watch the animated LOTR film especially the first one, it's bad but it's a lot more closer to the books (characters and more..).
-It gives you a whal new story. The books and movies-are-not-the-same!
Well, maybe i'm crazy lol.
:bye2:

Well I do not think that you are crazy. The books and the movies have many differences.

Well ... I also read the books after having watched the movies - the first two movies, I think. So in my mind I saw the actors. But I have a little problem with voices. I try to imagine the actors voices or imaginary voices if there are characters that I see in my mind that are not the actors (right?).. But if I try to hear the voices for too long I can't concentrate. But the real problem is that I hear my own voice! And it's so annoying, I dunno what to do!

I don't hear the actors' voices when I read the book. But,maybe if I read it in English,it would be easier to hear the actors' voices...and maybe not  I hear my voice in my head and this don't annoy me.

Oh yeah! Now I see! Thanks Anny(Elleth)! I read the books in Danish so it was a little hard with the voices... But I still hear my own voice when I read books in English...argh

Well, I allways heard and saw the acotrs when I read the book. Though it took me quite awhile to get through any part with Legolas in that part doing it that way... ...I couldn't help myself. lol I just had to keep rereading the Legolas parts so I could picture Orlando as Legolas again and again and again. lol
I think that for me personaly it helped and I really liked having the actors and actresses as visual aids. That way whenever I was unsure of how I thought that paticular character would say or do something I could use what the actor did or said or the way tyhat I thought that they would play that part to help me through it.

I have shamefully only managed to read up to and including shadow of the past but yes. I most definitley had to imagine the actorsvoices when reading the book but i must disagree with the view it makes the book boring. It adds to the thrill as i picture the actors and it makes it much more enthralling. Especially with people like Viggo Mortensern and Elijah Wood in roles playing in your head the way Tolkien wrote the book. lol.
