In fact there is nothing I hate about the lord of the Rings but I didn't like the parts in Bree so much. Untill Strider turns up I found them very boring.

Larael Greenleaf wrote: Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh......thank you Lady Alane for making this thread. My least favourite of all the chapters is the Council of Elrond........it just goes on and on and on........and they just keep talking and talking. I know its important but.......I already know whats going on and they explain it about 50 times in that chapter!!!!!!!!!!!
My most hated chapter in the book is also this one. It seems to really drag itself in, and it goes on and on for ages.lol.

Hate a chapter in LotR?? NEVER!!! I loved them all. And I really liked the Council of Elrond, I didn't find it boring, even though it was long. I guess if I had to pick one, it would be one of the beginning chapters, before they meet Strider, but I can't use the word hate for a LotR chapter....

Okay, over this past year I reread FotR [and I think I matured a tad] because now I look at this chapter with a much different perspective.
I once thought this chapter long and boring, but now I realize that there are many interesting stories and histories woven in that it leaves me wondering and wanting to learn more. I found that I was a lot more interested this time around, maybe that's just me though.

Hey guys, be nice. Remember that Tolkien put his whole heart and soul into this book and we wouldn't want to hurt his feelings by saying we hated something of it.

I don't hate a chapter... I like all of them, perhaps one chapter I didn't like that much was the story of Tom Bombadil, but I enjoy reading every single page of LotR

I think the only chapter of the book I had a hard time reading was the council of Elrond. I think I put the book down and didn't read it again for half a year after trying to read that chapter lol.
