Yeh I suppose he is a bit- But I guess in TTT and ROTK its just the ring affecting him. But he probably doesnt appreciate Sam much because he thinks Sam want the ring or something.

Hmm, yeah, I suppose Pipin could get annoying, but I don't really see it, coz I love Pip.
And, For some odd and unknown reason, i had completely forgotten about the ring. Lol. It probably does have a big part to play. But I'm up to rivendell(I haven't had time to read much) in Elrond Council, and I have to say, he's better now, I don't mind him as much now

I didn't think there were so many people who dislike Frodo. I never had the impression that he was "snappy" in the book. Not "snappy". Pippin can get annoying at times, something I completely understand. But Frodo was never impolite to him.
As for the Frodo-Sam relation: At the beginning, it is very much a master-servant relationship, which is just typical for the time in that Tolkien lived. And it grows to be a friendship with two equal partners.
Anyway, I liked Frodo in the book even more than in the film.

*agrees* we should be able to change the world, but actually we can't, but Frodo, he's a hobbit and yet he was able to destroy the ring (of course with the help of others) but this is something which is hardly possible in real life..[/i]

Frodo had some cause to be snappy, but I just thought he whined a few too many times. My real complaint was that no one considered Sam a hero when they got back - even though it was his persistance that kept them going.

I like frodo, he can be rude sometimes, but he has got an evil burden, and he is trying to save middle earth. I mean if you cariied a berden like that i am sure i would be cranky too.

For sure, I don't think anyone gives Frodo enough credit for what he's going through, not so much in FotR as in TTT and RotK. His burden is incredible and I think any snappishness can be excused. I never really did like the master/servant relationship between Frodo and Sam in the beginning, but it got better - which is good, because I've always been a huge fan of Frodo!

I know... and that is where LotR helps me, because it shows me that no matter how bad things seem that there always is hope..

he's snappy because he's nervous, black riders always chasing on him, weariness bothering him, i dont like him being snappy, but i like him still! he's the HERO of the whole saga!

I have to say, after just having read FotR with my boys that we all loved Frodo. Especially the descriptions of his interaction with Aragorn. I know that it is easy to be critical if you really scrutinize someone though. Even to the point of disliking them. And Frodo wasn't perfect.
I can empathize with him though cause I have gone through times when it seemed the weight of the world was on my shoulders too.
