What is your opinion on her? What was your first impression?

My first impression was when i saw the film, and I was convinced that she was evil. Embarrassingly wrong, huh?

Then I read the book, and realised that perhaps she wasn't evil after all. I was a bit confused, but I think by the time I'd seen the film several times and reread those chapters in the book I decided she was cool. She's one of my favourite characters!
(and contrary to popular belief, it was not just because she had long blonde hair and was smart - aka, was a bit like me...)

I first met her in the book, and I can't really remember my first impression. I was in awe of each character though, and there's absolutely no experience like seeing a story you've never read before unfold.

Well I read the book after I watched LotR, and eh I don't really know the first impression I had of Galadriel. I viewed her as a heroine though, and I think it's cool to talk to people in their minds. So I thought she was awesome :-D

If I can remember correctly, she kind of creeped me out. I first saw her in the movies, but now she's not really.

The first time I read about her I immediatly found her a strange but strong person. In the movies I find she's a bit creepy, but she's still a strong women

Well, my first impression of her was that she was evil. She seemed too mysterious and too gloomy to be fully good. But she has certain wisdom and intelligence that I don't think anybody else has. She's pretty old, you know.

Very mysterious she is. :yoda:

I thought (I still think) that she is a powerful woman. When you read about her, she's not your ordinary woman character. She is intelligent and also very powerful and wise :) One of my favorite characters form the books :-D

Watching the LOTR series again yesterday... Galadriel, though she is unbelievably powerful, is also one of the kindest Elves ever. She takes in the Fellowship and helps them so much. She could be a Ice-Queen if she wanted to be, evil and powerful, but she just isn't! *smiles*

ahh Galadriel....my first impression i think i was kinda scared for a few seconds but i know know alot about her and even though i love the others alot i think she would be by far my favorite...i never really worried much lol. yes she is old, if i recall she is from the third generation of elves and was the fairest of her house(the house of feanor if i recall...) she is very kind and genorous and more powerful then some may believe and sauron tried to enter her mind many times but failed, which is good for she was on the council of the wise and we dont want sauron know all the secrets now do we? lol...ok im ranting*hides*

I had seen Galadriel in the movies before I had read about her in the book.

I have to admit that she seemed like the kind of person you would not want to meet on such an important journey. Especially when she was tempted to take the Ring, I was like okay...

In the books, my first impression was very different. She seemed much more friendly.

Actually, I think that Galadriel was one of the characters that were more distorted per se in the movies.

No I always thought Galadriel was remarkably well done... now more than ever, now that I've read The Silmarillion!

Galadriel is also one of the wise. She has the gift of foresight and knows what is to come. She realizes the importance of the quest and the destruction of the ring.
That is probably what you mean, I just had to point out that kind and powerful not necesserily are opposite qualities ;-) Indeed she could become the Wicked Witch of the West if she took the One Ring but she resists and that is the most impressive example of her wisdom and strength.
