Tom does out the ring on! The reason he didn't disappear is given by Goldberry - He is master. Basically, he is in control of himself and cannot be altered by something else.

Hmmm... I must really have a bad memory... Sorry, you are right Darrell. Tom does put the ring around his little finger and then he makes the ring disappear. I think I might have read it like he doesn't put it on for real or that he plays a trick with the ring... no, actually I'm not sure what I thought.

People who put the ring on go into the shadow world. All the Ainur and Elves (atleast the ones who went to Valinor) live in both the shadow world and the real world, so they cannot be made invisible by the ring.

I think this theory is the most possible and it is quite accurate. Do you remember when Frodo saw Glrfiondel just before Rivendell? He was somehow between the shadows if I can say that. But of course Tom was something completely different. I really do not know why he did not dissapeared when he wore the One Ring.

Ya nailed it, it's that exactly as far as i know.

I'd like to add that maybe it didn't affect Tom because he is not completely part of this world. He could seem like he is physically there, but really not be. He seems to be everywhere, which leads me to believe he could be a personification of nature. Always there, but not physically sometime's.
Back on topic here...
I really don't know why Sauron was not invisible when he put on the Ring, but I have an idea. Many others have voiced my exact belief. It did not affect him because he was the master, he had no reason to hide.

i agree with her ^ but it's an interesting question. i never even thought about it before now. i'm betting it's because he had power over the ring so he chose whether or not to use the invisibility that came over anyone else that didnt have the power over it. just a guess though.

Shall re-iterate what I have already written, and give a link to a small theory on the subject, which I consider to be quite good. It discusses the question in hand well, and provides a reasonable answer to the question. For those of you who have the patience to read things like this, rather than just ignoring them and going on to the next thread, here is the link: http://www.cep.unt.edu/~hargrove/Invisibility.pdf

Yes, it is a good link, and it certainly helped me answer many of my questions. Sometime's I think though, it's necessary for us to think on our own theories first before going to an actual source for real answers. Get's those brain juices flowing, ya know?

Oh yes, no doubt. And I had theories of my own before I found that link. But, it expleins them better, and in more detail than I could ever do. (It represents my theories well)

Lol, I know what you mean, Darrell. That explains the whole theory way better than I ever could (It's pretty much the same theory I came up with).
Btw, what's your second banner from?
