Nicely said Eariel. I most definitely agree with all of that.
This scene shows Frodo's bravery so clearly. He sums it up so perfectly when he says, "I know what I have to do. It's just that I'm scared to do it." I think of courage not as the absence of fear, but rather, going on in spite of being afraid. That's exactly what Frodo does. He's so scared, and so alone, but he's so brave. He goes on. There weree so many times during the quest when he could have taken the easy way out, could have given in to his fear, but he keeps going. And he's so unselfish. He refuses to put the lives of his friends in danger, even thoug it would be easier for him if they came. To me, this scene illustrates some of the most beautiful and admirable qualities in Frodo, but especially his bravery and his love.
Also, this is another scene that shows the wonderful friendship between Frodo and Sam. Sam knows Frodo's mind. He knows what Frodo's going to do. He probably even knows how Frodo's feeling. So he goes with him. I always feel grateful for Sam at this part too, and I'm sure Frodo does. he's not alone anymore. And not only is he not alone, he's with Sam, his loyal friend who's going to love him and stick with him until the end. I always cry when Sam says, "Don't you lose him Samwise Gamgee. And I don't mean to. I don't mean to." Always. Every time. Of course, I'm already crying after seeing Frodo standing on the banks crying, but I'm crying even harder after Sam says that. Such an amazing scene.

It's true TT, without fear there would be no courage. Frodo wanted to give up too many times but it's so interesting that what he wanted so badly to do and what he knew he had to do, weren't the same thing. He pressed on with what he knew he had to do, despite the temptations and other paths he could have chosen. His love for his friends and Middle Earth compelled him to save it to keep the hobbit's happy and peaceful life undisturbed. It was a very touching and extremely powerful scene that examines all of Frodo's good qualities in one moment.

I stand alone withou beliefs, the only truth I know is you....

Ignore me, I'm listening to Simon and Garfunkel and I am singing along. Thought this bit of text might fit for Frodo as well :-)

Sorry for not coming here earlier, I'm so busy with all the graphic stuff - avatars claim, several contests I entered, exploring new ways of graphic making with Photoshop... but I love it. I couldn't live without graphics, I think. ;-)

I like everything you said about the scene. For me it's a very personal scene, because this was the point where I actually fell in love with Frodo  I realized how much I loved him for both his fear and his courage. It is also one of my favourite scenes because it makes Frodo more "human" in a way, to see him suffering and to see his fears - you can feel related to him. And it's very encouraging that he manages to overcome his fear. It makes me think, "If he can do it - I can do so, too".

Hope this made sense. Music and talking about emotions doesn't for that well for me :P

Yes, he is. :) Good thoughts, everyone--i haven't felt like having very philosophical discussions for the past few days, so that's why i haven't been on this thread. Not that there's anything wrong with it--i enjoy deeply thinking about things a lot--but it's hard when you're feeling down. Anyway, that's interesting that you fell in love with him then, Forever. For me it was at some point in Ithilien (in the book) that I realized he wasn't just "that hobbit with the Ring" anymore... ;) The scene where Sam sees that a light is shining through him (as he's sleeping), and he tries to find the words to describe it but ends up just saying "I love him, whether or no" has been a rather special scene to me, because it was a point I remember particularly in my journey to Frodofandom, and also that quote just describes how i feel, as well. That was a long sentence.

Eariel, I have something for you....

I made your header! I played a lot around to find that kind of look I wanted and I finally got 3 versions:

You can take the one you like best.
If you want me to change something, that's no problem at all. Don't be afraid to ask! :-)

I hope you like (one of) them. :P

^My new poem-site, to be exact. :P Forever offered to make the header, and ooooooooh they're gorgeous!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) Ooops i should probably stop spamming you with smiles... :P Ooh, i love the butterfly in the corner...I think my favorite is the last one. :) I love the bluish "dreaminess"... ;) The only thing *tries not to be afraid to ask  * i might change is the effect of lines in the pictures of that one...I'm not sure, though, so if you want you can play around with changing it... Who knows? I might decide I like this version the best. ;) I haven't actually said 'thank you' yet, so thank you!!! (Um, could you tell me how to put the header on my site? I might try and figure it out, but i may not be able to...So your help would be appreciated, as it already has been with the header, and very much so. ;) ) Oooh, i love the stars everywhere... *tears self away from gazing at banners :P *
So...what are we talking about...? Oh yes--the scene at Anduin. I love the moment when Frodo pulls Sam into the boat (who doesn't?)--it really shows their friendship, and those scenes that make it into my favorites tend to be the ones that show that.

Eariel, I wasn't sure what you meant by "effect of lines". I played around a bit but it didn't come out that much different:

Image

Perhaps I've already spent all my creativity, I don't know :P

Tell me what you think about it! :-)

As for the layout thing: If you're going to use a template (like I do), you just have to choose the one you want. Then, you have to upload the header (you can do that with the File Manager, it's easy) Then, you go to "Edit Titles & Site Pic" in the orange box on the left of the Site Manager. Scroll down to "Site Picture", click Edit and choose the header you uploaded before. That's it!
But you have to be careful about the template. There are some templates that don't allow you to use an individual header, or just a small one. The best one I found is the template that I also use, it's called Waveform. But you might find another, just play around a bit!

Hope that helped. (I'm so bad at explaining things!) It sounds more complicated than it is, you'll see ;-)

It makes me giggle too...lol.

Nevermind then, Forever. :) Whatever you did (to quote Frodo :P ), I think i might like this one even more than the original "blue one." I saved the image to my computer, then uploaded it...is that what you're supposed to do? Just making sure i understand... ;) I'll use "waveform" for now, though like you said i may try and experiment. Thanks again for making those and explaining how to post them (so to speak)! :) I'm in your debt.

All right then, fine! I'm glad you like it that way! :-)

I think you did it correctly. To make sure: You should see the header in the Site Manager-Site Picture menu once you've uploaded it. It's all quite simple at freewebs, the menus are really good and understandable, even for non-computer nerds ;-)

I can't wait to see your site!!! :bounce:

I saw Hooligans. It was a totally different character from his previous work. Frodo would never approve of the things that went on in that movie, but it was a very good movie in and of itself. Extremely violent though.
