Do you guys think Lij has changed a lot since his youthful days?
Or do you think minus the hideous beard and with longer hair he is Frodo?

Actually I kind of like the beard... But to answer your question, in some ways he "is" Frodo (or very much like him), but also they're definitely distinct, separate people to me. And I love them both, of course. :) lol
Speaking of which, today is Frodo's birthday! I felt terrible when i realized i'd let almost the whole day pass without remembering! But I've remembered now, so Happy Birthday, dearest Frodo!
Thanks for posting the link to that clip of Elijah on that show, Forever! It was hilarious (and very cute)! I admire someone who is willing to do something like that for kids even tho they're a big movie star. *warm glow* lol
And yes, i'll post the links again like you wanted. Here's the link to Storyteller's site...
http://www.cyberrach.net/Story%20page/contents.htm

Here's the one to my xanga (if that's what you meant).
http://www.xanga.com/lissalil_tailavre

And just in case, here's the link to my poem site (which is also in my signature).
http://www.freewebs.com/minstrelofdreams/

And yes, i have written another song concerning Frodo... (Partly because I read your post asking if i had, actually. lol) I'll try to post it soon.

To answer the question, I think he's grown up like every one grows up from youth. But there is a little bit of frodo in him. I'm not a big fan of beards, but he wears it well!
Thanks for sharing your writing Eariel. I don't need to tell you, cause you probably know how good you are. I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
Speaking of which, here's that poem (well, song actually, but it's a bit harder to tell people the tune over the internet lol) that i said i'd post. This one is supposed to be just me thinking about Frodo, and kind of being sad that he had to leave (tho i'm glad he went to Elvenhome--best ending the book could have). I also had a character from a different book in mind while writing it tho, because that character died and I was very sad. Still am. (I can't tell you which character it was, because that would give away spoilers for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. ;) ) So anyway, here's the poem.

In Haunted Reverie

I walk alone in Twilight dreaming--
When did Earth grow so cold?
Beyond where mortal tides are streaming,
I lost sweet Sunset gold--
The Story he lived is told.

The fairest lights are soonest taken
From the lonely World so grey:
The Dawn for which they fell shall waken
A world of Towers shaken:
Forsaken by shining souls we stay--
For an angel has his wings today--
But their love won't fly away.

By the Sea, in the starlight,
For your voice my heart listens:
Come sweet ghost--seaspray glistens
In my haunted reverie:
Come with me where dreams set us free!
Far beyond grief and war,
Seas can part us no more--
But past the veil of glimm'ring grey,
You're singing to me...

Show me the secret of my sighing--
Your glory left Earth to pine:
It's wind-blown spray--or am I crying?
Sweet Evening Star, you shine--
Light up this heart of mine!

By the Sea, in the starlight,
For your voice my heart listens:
Come sweet ghost--seaspray glistens
In my haunted reverie:
Come with me where dreams set us free!
Far beyond grief and war,
Seas can part us no more--
But past the veil of glimm'ring grey,
You're singing to me...

You call me tonight--
I will come to the Harbour,
And the Lone Star will lead me--ethereal white:
Waiting for Dawnrise--
I see it in your eyes,
Calling me into the Light
(Forever in sorrowless flight...)

By the Sea, in the starlight,
For your voice my heart listens:
Come sweet ghost--seaspray glistens
In my haunted reverie:
Come with me where dreams set us free!
Far beyond grief and war,
Seas can part us no more--
But past the veil of glimm'ring grey,
You're singing to me...

Well, yeah but he looks pretty much exactly the same as he did when he was like 10 - another incredible thing about Lij - He doesn't age :)

breathtaking poem Eariel. loved it as usual!

And I agree with you Frodos-guide. he just has a complextion that's timeless and ageless. He's very classic but very comtemporary at the same time. (i apologize if I sound cheesy and don't make a lot of sense but my brain is slightly fried with exhaustion at the moment.)

I don't see that he has actually aged - though he must have :P . You can't tell for sure with that strange beard. I just get the impression that he wants to get away from his Frodo image - a thing which is understandable, but still sad.

Eariel, I loved your poem!! It's among my top 5 of your works. :)

Thank you very much, Itarilde and Forever! I'm glad you liked it. :)
I know--Lij sort of has that timeless quality...almost an Elven air, i guess...like Faramir said Frodo had... :P

yeah, this may sound cheesy but when he woke up in the movie in Rivendell in that gorgeous bed, he just looked so at home and peaceful like he really belonged there. There is a very Elvish quality about him that makes him ageless. that's one of the first things I noticed about him.

(Sorry for the long absence...I will now do my part to rejuvenate this club. And also, the help of any of you in rejuvenating the Frodo Club would be appreciated. We have a new member over there, btw!)
I know what you mean...He does seem to belong in ethereal surroundings. He has what i like to call the "Luthien look"--dark hair and pale skin, like Luthien Tinuviel had. Except her eyes were grey...but then, i think in the book Arwen's were, too, but in the movie, of course, they're blue. Like someone else's... (I also like to jokingly say that while Luthien was said to be the fairest of Elves and Men, they don't mention that she was fairer than all the hobbits...lol. At any rate, our dear Ringbearer certainly is lovely, inside and out.)

Just thought that this club really needs to be revived, since there's so much going on in the other club.

I'm looking forward to seeing you again, Eariel, have a nice time, wherever you spend your holidays.

I watched FotR yesterday (after a break of one year!) and I loved it like the first time I saw it. It makes me so unbearably sad to see Frodo's happy days in the Shire and then think about his long journey...and know that he will never be the same again. I don't understand people who say that Tolkien did a bad job on Frodo's character because he doesn't change throughout the journey. He does change, and it makes me so sad to see it. I wish he could have stayed the person he was in the beginning; and yet everybody changes during life. It makes Frodo's character so real.

I had to tell that to someone. :)

I'm back! I enjoyed reading your post, Forever. (Thanks for reviving this club, btw!) It makes me sad as well to think of Frodo never being able to have his old life back again after the Quest, but it's kind of a bittersweet feeling--not all bad, i mean. I love how his inner light, so to speak, really came to shine through as a result of his journey, and afterwards he had this selfless, beautiful quality that i can't really describe (to my satisfaction, i mean, lol)... And even tho it make me sad that he had to leave Middle-earth (and Sam), the ending is so beautifully done, and i'm glad he got to go to a place as wondrous as Eressea, where he could find peace and healing. Also, he was a wanderer at heart, i think, and this way he was able to roam far afield (more so than most mortals) without being burdened and all. Anyway, glad to know I was missed, and it's good to be back. :) (Speaking of journeys, lol. :P )

You are so right. In many ways, Frodo's journey is a classical coming-of-age-story, where the true character is slowly revealed as he has to face hardships on his way. Any yet, one grieves a bit for all that was lost to him.

Welcome Precious, it's good to have you here! And yes, we all do love Elijah very much. (although it's actually Frodo, not Elijah, with whom I'm truly in love ;-) )
