This may sound sad to a lot of people, but 50 First Dates is the first movie I have seen besides lotr that has an lotr actor in it. I just recently watched it, and thankfully had most of the language and inapropriateness fast forwarded or muted, which, in the end made it a rather unfulfilling experience.
But I watched it because I not only knew about the plot and was desperately curious to see how in the world it could end happily, but I really wanted to see Sean Astin play a goofy person.
So I really liked it, and I laughed so hard I wasn't even breathing at some of the parts, and my family was kind of confused, but I had to explain that after seeing him as Sam, some of those facial expressions were side-splitting! And that lisp!!
Henry: Just let me apologize to Lucy, I don't want it to end like this.
Doug: It's gonna end like this! (Runs toward Henry, who calmly flips him over)
Doug: I could have (blank, blank) Dad, I just slipped on the gravel!
Henry: One day everything goes fine, the next day it's all, "Here are the pictures of your broken head..."
Doug: (Angrily) Do you want a broken head?
His Dad: Whose going to break his head?
Doug: (surprised) Well, I thought you would!
And best of all, the very end when he's hanging from those-whatever they are and he falls to the floor! I mean, that made my week! I laugh every time I remember it!
So did anybody else see it and if so what did you think of it?
