Did anyone see this movie? I didn't, mainly because it didn't interest me, but now I've found out that Andy Serkis (our dear Gollum!) :P is in it, playing some ape named Caesar's role.
is it worth seeing?

I want to see this movie SO badly! My brother went on the spur of the moment while I was at work last weekend, so I couldn't tag along, but he said it was very good. You don't need to have prior knowledge of the previous Planet of the Apes movies to see it, as this is a prequel that sets up the events of the other movies. He said Andy Serkis' performance was awesome and the other actors did very well in their roles (Tom Felton is in it, for instance). He also mentioned that there is a moment in the film where Andy as Caesar (sp?) does something that is very reminiscent of Gollum. I won't spoil what it is, but it did make me chuckle a bit when he told me. Hopefully, I'll get to see this sometime in the future. I feel like Andy doesn't get a lot of recognition for his performances in roles like this because he "only" does performance-capture, but he deserves perhaps even more credit than the other actors for what he does. It is acting, no matter what some critics may say.

maybe I should go see it now... or I might just wait for it to come out on DVD. that's good that you don't have to see the first one, since I haven't.
I think performance-capture is brilliant, and that an actor doing such should get as much credit as live action. it's just as physical.
