I thought Billy's character was okay, but honestly I was mostly listening through the movie--I love the music. The scenes where Jack and Stephen are playing together are incredible.

Haha I remember when I saw it in the movie theatre I screamed out Billy along with my friend when we first saw him on the screen, and everyone just kinda looked at us like we were crazy. Haha we was sooo cute though!

I didn't know he was in there until I watched it and was like "Oh wow. I think that's Billy Boyd." My parents--of course--asked "Who?" So then I had to explain the Billy played Pippin in LotR.

I had finally time to watch Master and Commander and now I can really say that I like it Billy Boyd was quite good in his role and it was funny to see him in another role than Pippin.
The end of the film was great although they didn't show what happened in the Acheron. I liked very much those parts, when Russel Crowe and doctor played together Russell Crowe was really good in his role, as usual. Paul Bettany was also amazing in the role of doctor.
The film was based on a book, but does anyone know has the book same name as film? If I remember right, the author was Patrick O'Brien.

I totally agree! I LOVE the soundtrack to it, they picked the most beautiful music for the movie. I especially love the Cello Suite that's in it. so pretty. *sigh*
Melilot, I think The Far Side of the World was like the 10th book in O'Brien's series, but the first book in the series is just called Master and Commander. I have it but haven't read it yet, I hear it's even better than the movie though.

Um, I forget. Maybe PG13?
Lol, Calenfalathiel. I happen to play the Cello, and two of my sisters play the Violin, so the Cello/Violin duets are really great to listen to. The music is gorgeous.

I found the first book from library and you were right Calenfalathiel, it was just Master and Commander. It was a very good book Now I have borrowed the third book. The only problem is, that only five books have been translated into Finnish I really hope, that they will translate the rest of the books, too. Jack Aubrey is a great character, and Doctor Maturin too

I've read maybe... two or three of the books. I actually read the last one first (I didn't realize it was the last one). It's a tad annoying because my library only has a few of them, and they're all in large print. lol

Hmmm...I want to read the books, but they're not as high up on my list as quite a few others, so it'll probably be a while before I get around to them.

I haven't seen the movie but I have seen a clip with Billy in it. It looks pretty good. Is it any good, by any chance?

This thread seems to be sort of dead..
Just wanted to say that I saw the movie yesterday and thought it was awesome! Initially, I wanted to watch it because of Billy, but while watching, I fell in love with someone else *coughdoctorcough*..
Billy's role was not particularly big, this was kind of sad. Apart from that fact, it's a really cool movie.
And this Paul Bettany guy is almost too cute to be real.
