Okie.. I can't really find another place to post this, so I guess here will have to do... just don't kill me. XD'' I currently have no form of instant messaging... I KNOW I can't get MSN, because my computer blocks it.. AIM, however... I just want to know how much space it would take up on my computer? I have a Windows '98... and, if not AIM.. what about Skype? |

Have you tried to download ICQ already? It's very simple and almost one of the oldest instant messaging system that has been around. I already had it, like 12 years ago? But there aren't much people that use it anymore, therefore pretty useless, unless you have a certain friend you want to chat with and he or she is willing to install it as well perhaps. You can also start a club on it, and ask people to join in. Another option is to solve the MSN problem you are having. Why does it not install on your computer? On Win98 it should run fine.. By the way, if you're ever considering to upgrade your system, perhaps you should install a newer windows version as well.. Win98 is a bit out of date for today if you spend time on the internet like all of us. If you don't know how to unblock the system for MSN, you may want to do some research in that area. I'd love to help, but I'm not a computer gymnast either. I could try and help you solve the problem ofcourse. Do you know why it blocks certain programmes? Do you have enough room on your harddrive for installing MSN? |

Hai, it was really so I could speak to two individual people... I know one of them only has YIM, and the other has... a lot. I really don't know a lot about the whole instant messaging thing... although, I'm on the Interent an awful lot of the time. This Windows '98 is the second version... so that should run quite well, ne? It's fine with everything else, but when I go to MSN, it tells me that the site itself isn't safe, and I run the risk of viruses, there. I'm pretty sure that I have enough room on my harddrive for MSN, because the person who had this computer before me (a friend of the family), seems to have left MSN bookmarks on it. Mhhmm.. it's rather tricky... how would YIM respond? I don't know a thing about the benefits of different services, you see. |

Well, if you have Yahoo, AOL or MSN mail and stuff, you can also use web messenger (www.ebuddy.com) - it supports only default emoticons and I don't think you can send & receive files but it's an IM-er anyways. =P |

If you want MSN on your pc I can e-mail the installation file to you. Either that or you can go to www.dingdongsonline.com/school which gets through proxy blocks and might get you to the download page. Personally I think MSN is the best, but AIM is ok. |

Actually, take it from a technical nut, Skype is the best. Unfortunately, unless you are friends with a bunch of techies, it's not very popular yet and your friends probably won't have it. ![]() But anyhow, Skype doesn't take up hardly any space at all, plus it doesn't have all that stupid advertising junk that MSN, AIM, and YIM have. Another solution is Meebo. http://wwwm.meebo.com/index-en.html It's kind of like ebuddy, except a bit more organized in my opinion. Just use your Yahoo Email ID and PW to log in and start chatting! ![]() |

I'd recommend AIM. It shouldn't take up too much space. Run a google search for an older version and then you'll be fine - I'm sure. |
