I was wondering, how do you choose what your headings look like? And how do you change the smilies you use?

For example, you know how there's a white line under "Testing"? How do you change the look of titles?
Oh, and for some reason, I can't get the avatars to work. :/ Is there anything else I'm supposed to do other than to put the url of the avatar next to "avatar url:"?
ALSO...(wow, lots of questions...) is there any way of controlling the amount of news per page?
