Post subject: The Photography Contest: Round 1 -- Flowers (entries please)

Greetings! Welcome to the Photography Contest, directly from the brain of smeagollum and the fingertips of Johnny's Fan. :D

It is time for contest with a bit of difference. You need not a quill that would make Shakespeare proud nor a graphics programme that has so many buttons and gadgets to figure out, you start fiddling with it at Easter and the next moment it's Valentine's Day, no my friends! You just need a photographic appliance! :photo:.

Why a photographic contest? Well I think Teh Smeag thought it would be a good idea to have a contest that doesn't really require anything except a camera which most of us have and a subject which most of us can find, and I agreed with her. We also agreed that this would be a contest were the photograph is in the limelight - not all the things you can slap on top of it. Make sure you read the rules *snore* and have fun. Happy snapping! :-)

The theme of the round .... flowers

Quote:
The Slightly Tedious But Nevertheless Important Stuff:

- Your photograph must follow the theme of the round. There can be other things in the photo (buildings in background, people in the distance etc) but the image must clearly show the theme
- You must use your own image, no stealing other people's photo's (I have hungry pink duckies to feed)
- Only one entry per person
- All entries must be PM'd to me. It will be fairer if voters don't know who took which photo - there will be no voting for friends or favourite graphic artists - photography is quite different ;)
- You don't need to have taken the photo spefically for this contest but if you can, use a picture that you hasn't been turned into a graphic and posted here
- Photo size can either be 600x400, 700x500 or 800x600 (if you don't have a graphics programme and you need your image resized PM me)
- If you edit your photograph in any way (see below) you must PM me the before photo as well as your entry photo

Remember:

This is a photography contest, as such your photo will be judged on .. just that .. how the photography side of things, not how well you have blended images together or made it all pretty with textures and brushes. There are a few ways you can edit your image, but not many (:teehee:).

You can:

- Edit the lighting - if your image is a bit darker or brighter than you would like then you can alter it, however don't make a daylight picture night and vice versa. ;)
- Retouch faces - retouch scars, pimples etc
- Crop photo

[Note: If you are without means to edit your photo's then PM me and I'll see what I can do for you.]

You can't:

- Colour your photograph or turn it black and white
- Make it glowy
- Add brushes, textures, patterns, text or other images
- Add frames or borders

Yes, I know there are a fair few rules but who doesn't like reading 'em? :teehee:

I'm not very camera happy. I like taking pictures but it takes me months up to a year to actually upload pictures onto my computer. So you'll just have a guaranteed voter. [thumbs up]

I reckon my computer would LOVE it if I took months to upload my pictures, I have them all on a disc now, as it was too much for my poor comp.

We welcome your vote preciouss....

It takes you months to upload them on the computer? How do you manage to accomplish that?

Heehee! It's not hard to do... I have things from about 3 years ago on my camera... I need to download and delete stuff... So I can have room for contests like this!

... Not really something I .... accomplish?

But, the reason is that my camera holds lots of pictures. Like... a lot. I've never had a full memory card. So, I just... I take pictures. I tell myself, "I'll upload them soon." Stuff comes up. I end up not uploading them. Six months later, I'm like, "..... Oh I had pictures on my camera. I'll upload them soon."

Few more months. "Oh I gotta upload those pictures. I'll do that soon."

Few months later. "Oh.... botherface."

That would do it. :P

I am the exact opposite, I take pictures so that I can upload them and show them to everyone.

With my old camera and new SD card I literally never ran out of space, but I always knew I had to upload them as I wanted them on my site.

With my new camera and the better quality, it doesn't hold as many with my SD card, so I do have to upload them more regularly.
