that's awesome arwen! you look great in that dress!...now if only i could get my parents to indulge me enough to let me get nice costumes...(they mentioned something about an unhealthy obsession *rolls eyes*) lol...I swear, my little expression of freedom when i get to college is going to be covering my room in LOTR and POTC posters and buying a bunch of costumes If I looked like anyone, I might try to make a simple something, but I have no talent sewing either, so...

That's wonderful Arwen! you're sure to win.
I'm STILL beading the sleeves for my costume...god I'm slow.
did you make that? if so, where did you get the trim?> i want to make the mourning dress after I finish my requiem dress...or maybe after I make the Starry Mantle...

Thanks girls Ellethwen, I did make the costume (with the help of a costuming-savvy friend). I couldn't find any trim that was wide enough or that looked realistic enough, so I went to a local fancy fabrics shop and bought a bit of material that I cut into strips. Then I overlaid the strips with a tan-ish/gold cording for the edge

*gasp* oooo... that's one of the best Mourning Gowns I've seen! hey people, just for the record, here is a great costuming site:

^ if you look at the scrapbook, you can see other costumes that people have made.

Oh, and here's another good one:
http://www.costumersguide.com
and yes, Arwen's is EXTREMELY accurate...expecially the trim. that's a good idea! i should try it out when I make mine.
of course, mine isn't turning out too well. I wonder if I should save it till later and make Eowyn's Starry Mantle instead...

I'm glad you think that, but actually, it;s not.
I think I'll have to pull out, that costume is so..friggin...hard!
I'm just making an elvish-inspired dress instead. Unless you'll let me enter that one instead? *hopeful look*
I could make the gown then dress up as Arwen. And look like her as much as possible.
